With over 450 employees in six global offices - from Amsterdam to Austin, Shanghai to Dubai - UNS is more than an architecture firm. We're a collective of thinkers, problem solvers, and creative minds working across disciplines to shape a better world. Whether it's cities or airports, bridges or brands, we design solutions that address real societal challenges.

UNS is looking for a senior Project Manager (PL6) to support the delivery of complex urban projects. We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in urban-scale work and solid experience in the organisational and operational side of project management.

This role is suited to someone who is highly structured, confident in coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and experienced in managing project processes, budgets, planning, and stakeholder alignment across international design environments. The focus of the role is on project delivery and coordination rather than design authorship. This is not a design role.

As Project Manager you will play a central role in the coordination and delivery of large, complex urban projects. You will help align teams, budgets, schedules, and project processes to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with a high level of quality.

The ideal candidate has an urban planning, urban design, or engineering background and at least 4 years of relevant experience in multidisciplinary and international project environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate multiple large-scale urban projects through all phases
  • Lead project organisation across multidisciplinary design teams
  • Support project managers in steering scope, planning, priorities, and delivery
  • Monitor project execution, timelines, quality, and resource allocation
  • Track budgets, invoicing, financial reporting, and budget progress in online financial systems
  • Coordinate internal specialist teams, including strategy and other expert disciplines, to support the right project approach and timely delivery
  • Liaise with Business Development on RFPs, fee proposals, and project set-up
  • Study and assess new and ongoing projects from a process and delivery perspective
  • Review contracts and draft fee proposals in coordination with relevant internal teams
  • Organise and coordinate tender meetings, construction meetings, and project work sessions
  • Monitor schedules, budget performance, variations in scope, and quality control
  • Ensure proper project handover, delivery, and aftercare
  • Coordinate communication internally and externally with clients, consultants, and partners
  • Support and guide team members working across assigned projects

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a senior-level candidate with:
  • A background in urban projects
  • Strong expertise in the process side of project management rather than design
  • Experience in complex, international, multidisciplinary design environments
  • Proven ability to organise teams and coordinate across disciplines
  • Strong financial and operational project management skills
  • Experience monitoring budgets, invoicing, and project reporting
  • The ability to maintain overview while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Clear communication skills and a proactive working style
  • Fluency in English
  • Dutch is a plus

Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience in project coordination or project management
  • Experience working on large-scale urban or mixed-use projects
  • Familiarity with contractual processes, fee proposals, and project planning
  • Confidence in working with internal systems for financial tracking and reporting
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills

What Success Looks Like in This Role
  • Teams are well-organised and aligned
  • Budgets and schedules are actively monitored and clearly communicated
  • Project risks, bottlenecks, and scope issues are identified early
  • Internal and external stakeholders are coordinated effectively
  • Project delivery is timely, structured, and well-supported across phases
