Mission:

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of a complex projects / programmes to UK MOD, ensuring that cost, schedule, performance, and safety objectives are achieved in accordance with MOD policy. The role provides authoritative project leadership, manages multi - disciplinary delivery teams, and ensures effective engagement with Front Line Commands, industry partners, and wider Defence stakeholders.

What will be your responsibilities:

Project Leadership

• Lead the delivery through the CADMID/CADMIT lifecycle, ensuring alignment with DE&S governance.

• Establish and maintain programme baselines (cost, schedule, performance) and ensure effective change control.

• Develop and maintain the Project Management Plan (PMP), Contract Master Schedule (CMS), Contract Work Break Down Structures (CWBS) and associated artefacts.

• Ensure delivery of capability that is safe, supportable, and operationally effective.

Governance & Assurance

• Implement DE&S governance structures, including Project Boards, Working Groups, and assurance reviews.

• Prepare for and lead internal and external assurance activities (e.g., IPA reviews, IBRs, safety audits).

• Ensure compliance with JSPs, Defence Standards, and relevant regulatory frameworks.

• Provide accurate, timely reporting to Programme Leads, Senior Leadership Team, and customer stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Act as the primary interface between TEKEVER, DE&S, Customer Stakeholders and industry suppliers.

• Manage customer expectations and ensure coherent communication across all stakeholder groups.

• Support requirements development & capability integration.

Commercial & Supplier Management

• Work closely with Commercial colleagues to develop, negotiate, and manage contracts.

• Monitor supplier performance, ensuring delivery of contracted outputs and adherence to quality, safety, and security requirements.

• Manage commercial risks, dependencies, and opportunities.

Risk, Opportunity & Issue Management

• Maintain a robust risk and opportunity management framework in accordance with JSP 892.

• Ensure proactive identification, mitigation, and escalation of risks and issues.

• Manage programme contingency and support evidence - based decision - making.

Team Leadership & Resource Management

• Lead and motivate a multi - disciplinary delivery team, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.

• Support workforce planning, resource allocation, and skills development.

• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, inclusivity, and professional excellence.

Profile and requirements:
  • Proven experience delivering complex engineering programmes in Aerospace or Robotics or relevant industry within Defence or a similar regulated environment.

• Strong understanding of MOD acquisition frameworks (CADMID/CADMIT).

• Demonstrable ability to manage cost, schedule, and performance baselines.

• Experience working with engineering, commercial, finance, safety, and ILS/TLS specialists.

• Skilled in supplier management and contract delivery oversight.

• Experience working with tools and systems such as JIRA, Primavera P6, MSP.

• Competent in risk, opportunity, and issue management.
