About the role

At Connect Plus Services, we manage and maintain the strategic infrastructure of the M25 Motorway, one of the busiest and most complex road networks in Europe. Working in partnership with National Highways and Connect Plus, our teams deliver vital inspection, maintenance and improvement works that keep the network safe and operational for millions of road users every day.

We are looking for a proactive and motivated Assistant Project Manager to join our Project Delivery team and support the delivery of a portfolio of schemes across the network.

As Assistant Project Manager, you will support the successful delivery of multiple projects at the same time, working closely with Project Managers, delivery teams and supply chain partners to ensure schemes are effectively coordinated and delivered in line with programme objectives.

The role focuses on supporting the management and coordination of projects through the full project management lifecycle, from early planning and governance through to delivery and completion. Many of these schemes are delivered within a live operational environment and require close coordination between operational teams, technical specialists and external contractors.

You will play a key role in coordinating activities across multiple teams and functions, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with contractual and governance requirements. This will involve working closely with internal teams including Safety, Commercial, Design, Logistics and Asset Management.

The role sits within a fast-paced operational environment where strong organisation, communication and collaboration are essential to ensure projects are effectively planned, governed and delivered.

What you'll be doing

You will support the development of strong working relationships with project teams and key internal and external stakeholders, ensuring there is clear understanding of project objectives, governance requirements and delivery expectations.

You will assist with coordinating the delivery of multiple schemes concurrently, supporting the planning, organisation and monitoring of project activities to ensure works progress in line with programme requirements.

You will support the management of project governance processes, ensuring appropriate approvals, reporting and documentation are in place throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with Project Managers and supporting functions, you will assist with the development and maintenance of project plans, helping ensure projects move effectively through each stage of the project lifecycle.

You will help monitor progress against programme objectives, supporting regular reporting and helping identify any risks, issues or dependencies that may impact delivery.

Part of the role will involve identifying emerging challenges across multiple schemes and working with teams to help develop solutions that maintain delivery performance.

You will contribute to maintaining high standards of health and safety performance across projects by supporting clear expectations around safety management, programme delivery and operational coordination.

The role will also involve supporting the organisation's sustainability objectives, including activities linked to net zero targets and biodiversity net gain.

Working alongside operational and construction teams, you will ensure that key project documentation, approvals and reporting are managed effectively and align with operational and project governance requirements.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a motivated individual with a project or infrastructure background who is comfortable working across multiple schemes and coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders.

You should have experience supporting the delivery of projects within structured project management environments and demonstrate an understanding of governance processes and the project lifecycle.

Strong communication and organisational skills are essential to help ensure project strategies, plans and solutions are clearly understood and effectively implemented.

You will ideally have experience managing or supporting project plans and stage plans, helping ensure activities are delivered in line with programme objectives.

Candidates should demonstrate the ability to coordinate multiple workstreams at the same time, ensuring projects progress through the appropriate governance stages and delivery milestones.

Personal attributes that will help you succeed in the role include proactive problem solving, resilience when managing competing priorities and the ability to build trusted relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
