The role at a glance

The PMO function provides vital support to our field teams to ensure the successful delivery of our network build operations and ensures that projects are executed on time and in line with budgets and programme milestones. As Project Manager you will be a key and senior member of our PMO team, responsible for managing, from cradle to grave, a FTTP network build programme, delivering, to operational field teams all planning, performance reporting, complaint management and noticing requirements to in turn ensure the successful delivery of the build programme. This role is the primary link between the back office support teams and the operational field delivery teams, ensuring works are delivered on time, in a compliant manner and in line with all relevant processes, standards and specifications. We actively encourage growth within the PMO function, providing opportunities to build technical capability, broaden process knowledge, and progress toward wider responsibilities as skills and confidence develop.

What you'll do
  • Preparation,completion and management of a compliant works programme covering: Civils works (ducting, mole ploughing and open cut trenching); Fibre installation (splicing, testing, blowing); and, Active equipment installation (OLT/ONT, cabinets, backhaul).
  • Manage site-specific challenges (permits, traffic management, wayleaves, unrecorded ducts, blocked PIA routes) to maintain delivery in line with the programme.
  • Track readiness milestones across design → civils → cabling → splicing → Activation → As builts.
  • Proactively drive all necessary actions to ensure the programme remains on track to deliver agreed milestones, managing risk within the programme accordingly (Street works delays, Adverse weather, Supply chain constraints etc.)
  • Ensure adherence to coreprogrammeKPIs: build velocity, quality, reworks, SLAs, and safety, supported by monitoring and publishing Build Manager and supplier internal and external KPI results.
  • Coordinate daily/weekly operational calls within house and external build personnel to maintain build fluidity.
  • Oversee Openreach PIA processes (notices, remediation, reporting, compliance), ensuring correct usage and avoiding penalties.
  • Handle escalation of delays, failed inspections, and rejected work packages.
  • Maintain documentation readiness for internal and external audits, investor reports, and regulatory reviews (E.g.Ofcom compliance, BD:UK & Scot Gov).
  • Manage the interface between design provision and work allocation and progress tracking / work pack allocation, ensuring design changes and variations are shared with field teams and so as to maintain fluid build delivery.
  • Chair and attend internal and external meetings and ensure the production ofaccuraterecords and data for any internal or external discussions and reports.
  • Provide a "one stop" interface point for allprogrammematters.

What you'll bring
  • Experience of managing a programme of works, preferably within the communications industry
  • Experience in being a project lead with proven track record in managing multi-function inputs.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships and exceed client expectations.
  • Proven ability to deliver against operational targets.
