We are looking for Senior Project Managers to lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment across the South West.

This role sits in Project and Programme Delivery (PPD) and is a senior position within our integrated project teams, taking responsibility for the delivery of projects as the Client Senior Project Manager, or being accountable as Project Executive. You will manage the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into construction and handover. You will mentor and coach project team members, flexing your involvement to suit the strength of the team.

You will build great working relationships with high performing teams including suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists and other partners. You will bring strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management as well as applying your experience in health, safety and wellbeing. You will facilitate collaborative and efficient ways of working across your portfolio and you will make key decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.

We expect you to have the ability to develop stakeholder relationships with statutory authorities, landowners and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals and external funding.

The team

We are Project and Programme Delivery (PPD), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. We are part of Environment Agency's Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) directorate and the team who provide the Environment Agency with effective project and programme management, delivering flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities. Although dispersed through offices across the region, we create collaborative spaces to share learning and develop our people.

Experience/skills required

A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline, ideally with chartered membership of a professional body such as MICE, CIWEM, IMechE, MAPM or MRICS
Experience in project management, ideally with a PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM Project Management qualification (PMQ) qualification
Experience in contract strategy and contract management, ideally in NEC PSC & ECC contracts
Experience managing health & safety in a construction environment under CDM regulations
Significant experience (>8 years) in a project and contract management environment ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management
Experience preparing scopes and contracts, cost monitoring/forecasting, risk management, business case development, measuring performance and administering contract
Technical knowledge in a range of areas such as: hydrology, river modelling, coastal engineering, feasibility assessment, flood risk assessment, asset management, environmental assessment, engineering design and construction
A track record for delivering results in technically challenging projects through coordination of multidisciplinary team

Driving Licence
