Job Description

About the job.

We're looking for a Project Manager to plan and manage the delivery of a national roll out of EV charging infrastructure to support National Highways net zero ambitions, in line with the corporate EV charging strategy.

This role will be responsible for the success of the project, managing internal stakeholders, external contractors and consultants and ensuring adherence to effective governance, quality assurance, health and safety, technical and specialist standards across the supply chain and National Highways.
  • Responsible for the delivery and any further development of National Highways corporate EV charging strategy; overseeing the end-to-end project management process, including inception, feasibility, design, procurement, installation and handover, for the roll out of EV charging infrastructure across National Highways estate.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with all members of the EV Charging Steering Group and other key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure full mutual understanding of the projects strategic and delivery objectives, ensuring alignment with other associated strategies such as Fleet and Estates to report on and review project performance and to agree solutions that resolve issues.
  • Design, agree and implement project plans, to ensure that all activities are appropriately organised to deliver project objectives, and are appropriately resourced to deliver the required outcomes.
  • Tender, commission, and manage the performance of expert consultancy support and supply chain delivery partners, as appropriate, ensuring that project objectives and requirements are clearly understood, setting clear expectations for health and safety management, time, cost and quality; and taking appropriate remedial action where necessary.
  • Define, monitor and report on KPI's for post installation, including metrics such as charge point utilisation, charge point up time, carbon and cost savings.

About you.
  • Professional accreditation: Full member of APM (Associate for Project Management) or appropriate professional body for their specialist field or a willingness and commitment to attain.
  • Change management and continuous improvement/LEAN: Appropriate professional body or a willingness and commitment to attain.
  • Experience of managing multiple teams to successful development of multiple, medium risk projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Lean and CI methodologies and tools to define suitable solutions and projects.
  • Experience of managing the development of project plans and detailed stage plans, and ability to negotiate and manage contracts to deliver outcomes and drive value for money.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of electrical infrastructure such as LV/HV connections, grid upgrades, DNO interface, EV Charging products.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
