About the Role

As a Senior Construction Manager within Nottingham City Council Housing Services' Asset Management team, you will play a key role in shaping the sustainability, safety, and quality of the city's housing stock. You will lead the assessment, planning, and delivery of investment and planned maintenance projects, ensuring they align with resident needs, organisational priorities, and best practice. Working collaboratively with finance, contractors, community partners, and internal stakeholders, you will oversee budgets, drive performance, and champion evidence-based decision-making to maximise value and impact.

You will lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team (circa 20-25 employees), promoting a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and professional development. A vital part of the role includes engaging with residents and community groups, ensuring their voices influence service planning and project delivery.

A strong understanding of contractual frameworks, including demonstrable experience with JCT and NEC contracts, is essential to support effective contract strategy, risk management, and compliant commercial governance across capital programmes.

You will represent the service with professionalism, support effective communication across teams, manage key risks, and ensure that health, safety, wellbeing, and equality considerations are embedded in all areas of delivery.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

1. Capital Delivery Experience

Please describe your experience in delivering large-scale capital programmes (e.g., kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, or other major investment works). Include specific examples that demonstrate successful delivery within time, cost, and quality parameters.

2. Commercial and Contractual Competence

What knowledge and experience do you have of JCT and/or NEC contracts? Please explain your role in administering contracts, managing risks, and ensuring commercial compliance.

3. Leadership and Team Management

Can you provide examples of when you have led multidisciplinary teams? Describe your approach to leadership and how you communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

4. Health, Safety & Regulatory Compliance

Please demonstrate your understanding and experience of CDM Regulations and wider construction health and safety legislation. How have you applied these principles in practice within capital delivery or construction environments?

5. Programme and Operational Delivery

How do you manage multiple workstreams or staff overseeing project delivery simultaneously? Provide examples of how you have ensured strong operational management, performance, and risk mitigation across a programme.

6. Resident and Stakeholder Engagement

Please describe your experience working in customer-facing environments. How do you manage resident expectations and ensure effective communication and engagement throughout project delivery?

Please submit both a copy of your CV and a supporting statement - in your supporting statement please ensure you demonstrate clearly how you meet the 6 requirements/questions outlined above.
