ABOUT THE ROLE

Salary: c£62,000 DOE

Location: Sheffield/hybrid remote working, 2 days per week in-office

ZOO Digital is currently seeking an IT Project Manager to join our award-winning Research & Development team. ZOO's R&D team works closely with the Product Support Team to create cutting-edge software solutions for high-profile and industry-leading customers.

As IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of DevOps and IT projects across global teams. You will manage the end-to-end implementation of multiple complex projects, ensuring effective allocation of resources, alignment with business priorities, and delivery in line with timelines and budget. Working with industry-leading media organisations, you will provide up-to-the-minute project updates and manage resources to meet customer needs. You will oversee daily project activity and future planning across DevOps and IT teams, ensuring priorities are clearly defined and delivered efficiently.

Operating within an agile development environment, you will create and maintain project plans, liaising with internal teams to schedule deliverables, while proactively identifying and managing risks to mitigate potential issues. You will also utilise best-in-class project management processes and tools to ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery.

Day to day responsibilities will include;

  • Own and be accountable for end-to-end delivery of DevOps and IT projects.
  • Lead project planning, execution, monitoring, and closure activities.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and roadmaps.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Manage infrastructure and IT projects, including office setups and global deployments.
  • Ensure all project management tools and documentation are accurate and up to date
  • Allocate tasks effectively based on priorities, timelines, and team capacity.
  • Monitor workload distribution to ensure optimal team utilization.
  • Evaluate and challenge effort estimates to ensure realistic delivery timelines.
  • Manage allocation of work to full-time, temporary, part-time, and seconded staff.
  • Work closely with Software Engineering Project Management to align plans and dependencies.
  • Conduct daily stand-ups and regular project meetings to ensure alignment.
  • Communicate goals, timelines, risks, and priorities clearly to all stakeholders.
  • Provide regular status updates and monthly management reports.
  • Ensure key stakeholders are informed of progress, risks, and deviations.
  • Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks and issues.
  • Implement corrective actions to address deviations from plan.
  • Maintain visibility of risks and mitigation strategies across all projects.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery.
  • Track and report on project spend, forecasts, and variances.
  • Optimize resource utilization to control costs without compromising quality.
  • Work with finance and leadership to align project costs with business objectives.
  • Evaluate vendor and third-party costs to ensure value for money.
  • Promote and implement Agile and DevOps best practices.
  • Define, document, and improve project management processes and standards.
  • Continuously review tools, workflows, and practices to drive efficiency.
  • Gather feedback from teams and stakeholders to improve delivery processes.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to enhance systems and processes.
  • Establish and maintain best practices for project governance and delivery.

This role is critical in ensuring that DevOps and IT initiatives are delivered efficiently, aligned with business goals, and managed within budget. The IT Project Manager acts as a central point of coordination, driving delivery excellence, continuous improvement, and cost-effective execution across all projects.

Requirements

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a proactive and dynamic Project Manager, with a strong technical background gained within a client-facing software/IT/DevOps environment. The IT Project Manager must have experience reporting to senior internal and external stakeholders, as well as excellent people management skills with the ability to draw the best out of people.

We are also looking for applicants with the following experience;

  • Strong project management expertise (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project).
  • Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control.
  • Ability to work across global teams and time zones.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and challenge teams.
