Job Description

Given our continued success, we are actively seeking Project Managers (including Associate and Senior levels) to act as the main point of contact for allocated client projects, ensuring effective coordination, progress tracking and high-quality delivery.

ABOUT YOU

The position requires a highly organised and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. You will be confident managing multiple priorities, building strong stakeholder relationships, and ensuring a consistently high level of service delivery.

You will bring a scientific background alongside strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear, client-friendly language.

We are particularly interested in individuals with the right attitude and potential, even if you are at an earlier stage in your project management career. This role is well suited to Scientists, Senior Scientists, or Project Coordinators looking to transition into project management.

Required skills and experience:
  • Educated to a Higher Education level in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Biology or related), with laboratory exposure
  • Proven experience working within a laboratory, CRO, or pharmaceutical environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a client-focused mindset
  • Understanding of project management principles or experience coordinating multiple workstreams
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams, including laboratory and quality functions
  • Commercial awareness and ability to understand client needs
  • Experience within one or more of the following areas would be advantageous:
    • Cell & Molecular (e.g. cell culture, cell-based assays)
    • Analytical (e.g. chromatography, QC techniques such as HPLC / LCMS)
    • Characterisation (e.g. large molecules / biologics)
  • Excellent organisational, time management and IT skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
  • Positive, adaptable approach with a genuine desire to learn and develop

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

To perform the role and responsibilities of a Project Manager within a laboratory environment, acting as the primary liaison for clients throughout the full project lifecycle.

You will take ownership of project delivery end-to-end, ensuring projects are delivered on time, to quality, and to client expectations. This includes defining project scope, supporting quotation development, and working closely with internal teams to meet delivery commitments.

You will play a key role in bridging laboratory teams and clients, translating complex scientific activity into clear, structured updates while supporting commercial objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing Project Management team in Manchester, supporting a wide range of pharmaceutical development and testing projects.

This role is primarily site-based in Manchester, working closely with laboratory and quality teams, with flexibility for occasional remote working where required.

Key activities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all assigned client projects, managing project organisation and administration end-to-end
  • Monitor project progress against agreed KPIs and milestones (internal and external), proactively managing risks and resolving issues
  • Define and agree project deliverables with clients, ensuring clarity from initiation through to completion
  • Support project setup, including preparation of documentation and coordination of internal resources
  • Develop a strong understanding of each client project and its role within the wider drug development lifecycle
  • Provide clear, consistent communication and progress updates to stakeholders, translating technical information into client-friendly language
  • Organise and lead project meetings, including preparation of slides, minutes, action logs, risk logs and issue tracking
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical or contractual queries throughout the project lifecycle
  • Monitor in-process activities and keep senior management informed on progress and key metrics
