Job Description

Costain have won extensive work across the water sector this year to support the AMP 8 investment cycle. We have been appointed by United Utilities as one of 7 partners to the Enterprise, delivering £5.5bn of projects in the Asset Management Period 8 (AMP8) between 2025 - 2030, and AMP 9 (2030 - 2035). Our scope is to provide project management, design, construction and commissioning services on design and build schemes throughout the North West and Cumbria region covered by United Utilities. Projects vary in value, covering both infrastructure and non-infrastructure assets on water and wastewater sites with wider Enterprise partners

The role is to lead construction operations to ensure all elements are delivered safely on time and budget, as well as compliance with all specifications. This will include managing a team of engineering staff and all subcontractors to provide technical support and production control. Applicants with waste water experience are preferred.

This site-based role based on our Windermere site

Responsibilities

Responsibilities
  • Provide construction leadership and manage all aspects of construction.
  • Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with The Costain Way.
  • Put safety above all else and lead by example.
  • Promote Right First-Time approach to quality and avoid rework.
  • Manage a team of staff and collaborate with other members of the project leadership team.
  • Support the Project Manager in all construction matters including handover.
  • Provide planning and procurement support, implementing production control and all related subcontract activities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge and experience of standards
  • and procedures
  • Experience of working within a Principal Contractor environment
  • Knowledge and experience of Temporary Works procedures
  • CSCS & SMSTS qualifications
  • Behavioural Management training
  • Knowledge and experience in construction
  • Experience as a Lean Practitioner
  • Understanding of handover process

Qualifications

Full UK Driving Licence
