The Physics Department is looking to recruit a proactive, enthusiastic person to the role of Superintendent and Departmental Safety Officer. This is a senior technical leadership role responsible for managing a small (9) technical team, ensuring robust safety governance, and contributing to the Department's long-term strategic plan. You will lead and oversee all aspects of departmental safety governance, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

You will
  • Act as the Department's lead technical authority, providing expert advice to senior management, key stakeholders and all members of the Department.
  • Represent technical support at senior management and committee meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Develop and implement technical and safety strategies aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Manage departmental resources effectively, including budget planning, financial oversight, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor performance, risk, and compliance metrics, ensuring appropriate reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Be the Departments primary contact and lead for projects with the University's Facilities division and pro-actively monitor building infra structure to maintain functionality.
