Assistant Project Manager/QuantitySurveyor

Pay rate: £17.44 per hour

Location: Tilbury

Hours: Full or part time (movingto full time once graduated)

Term: Temp to perm

With both in-house joineryproduction and main contractor capability, we manage the entire projectlifecycle, ensuring precision, control, and a consistently high standard offinish across everything we do.

The role

This is an exciting opportunityfor a motivated final year student or graduate to begin their career as anAssistant Project Manager/Quantity Surveyor, working across both projectmanagement and commercial functions.

You'll gain hands-on experienceacross the full project lifecycle while developing the commercial, technical,and delivery skills essential for a successful career in construction projectmanagement. Duties include:

Commercial/Quantity Surveying

• Assisting in the preparation and management of project budgets and cost plans
• Tracking expenditure against budgets and reporting financial performance
• Supporting procurement and managing subcontractor/supplier packages
• Analysing and comparing quotations
• Assisting in managing variations and cost changes
• Supporting valuations and financial reporting

Project Management

• Helping coordinate project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Monitoring project progress against programme
• Maintaining project documentation and reporting systems (Softools)
• Attending site visits and client/project meetings
• Supporting delivery from pre-construction through to handover

Systems & Reporting

• Using internal systems to track costs, programme, risks, tasks, and workflows
• Contributing to process improvements and reporting structures

Person spec

• Graduate or final year student in a related discipline e.g. Quantity Surveying, Construction Management
• Clear, professional written communication (emails, reports, meeting notes)
• Confident when speaking with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and internal teams
• Able to present information logically
• Strong listening skills and ability to ask the right questions
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, data structuring, cost tracking) and competent in Word, Outlook, and Teams
• Comfortable learning new digital systems (e.g., Softools)
• Able to manage digital files and data effectively
• Understanding of costs, revenue, profit, and margin and the ability to interpret cost plans, quotes, and spend vs budget reports
• Awareness of procurement impacts on overall cost
• High numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent attention to detail
• Organised, methodical, and structured
• Commercially aware with an interest in business decision-making
• Proactive and willing to take ownership
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
• Able to travel to the Tilbury based office location.
