Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • To manage a medium-size/complexity project, or multiple small projects within the Trust, following the agreed project management methodology and reporting progress against the agreed plan.
  • To ensure that project objectives and benefits are in line with Trust, regional, and national strategy, and are signed off and approved by all necessary governance.
  • To ensure it is clear who is responsible for the budget/financial management, and to liaise with them to ensure any risks related to the budget are identified and managed.
  • To manage multi-disciplinary teams associated with the delivery of the project, ensuring all work is defined and delivered as per the plan, and ensuring that all project team members have agreed roles and responsibilities.
  • To coordinate the work of different workstreams within the project, ensuring the phasing of activity within the overall high-level plan. To develop and update, with progress, both the high-level and detailed plan.
  • To manage the development and maintenance of all project documentation, including project summaries and other products within the project pack. To ensure the relevance and timeliness of all project control documentation, applying change control processes where required.
  • To compile project reports and papers to allow progress to be effectively monitored. To ensure that all reports present an accurate, honest assessment of the health of the project, thereby ensuring that decisions can be made based on accurate, timely data.
  • To develop and maintain a stakeholder analysis to ensure that all parties involved in, or affected by, the project are engaged to the appropriate level

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree level qualification or diploma level qualification plus relevant experience
  • Significant experience of working in a complex organisation

Desirable criteria
  • Formal Project Management Qualification
  • Experience of change within the NHS

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good awareness of relevant legislation/ statutory / governance frameworks
  • Experience / understanding of the project lifecycle
  • Experience of change in an organisation operating within a policy and procedure framework
  • Awareness of the principals of Risk and Issue Management
  • Awareness of Planning and Estimating techniques

Desirable criteria
  • Configuration management (Change control)
  • Experience of clinical change
  • A proven track record of delivering objectives on time, on budget and to the agreed quality

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Basic Project Management skills and understanding of Project Management concepts
  • Good communication skills, able to articulate concepts in a way that is accessible to people from a non-technical background.
