About the role

To manage construction activities so that appropriate engineering standards are
complied with in relation to construction on allocated projects within the CRSA
programme. Management of engineering deliverables compliant with the
requirements of CRSA working procedures, GRIP4Track, relevant legislation, Group
and company standards, and Network Rail procedures.

What you'll be doing

Undertake Contractors Responsible Engineer duties (CRE).

Monitor the programme teams so they follow the project approved Inspection
and Test Plan (ITP) Process.

Manage the approval process design documents (Form A - B / etc as
appropriate).

Manage the close-out of all Non-Conformances (NCRs) identified by the
programme teams.

Coordinate the preparation of the discipline specific Entry-into-Service
Certification and Hand-Back Records, endorsing all certifications as- required.

Monitor programme staff so they have the required competence to undertake
their duties

Provide guidance and support with the detailed planning and development and execution of Renewal and IUT/Enhancement Works.

Participate and assist the programme teams with DWWP, Safety Verification,
QRSA and scheme readiness meetings.

Attend stage gate meetings in accordance with Alliance Procedures.

Review of designs and drawings in accordance with contract specifications.

Review and check design drawings undertaken by other technical staff.

Monitor all works undertaken are planned, installed and tested in accordance
with appropriate group and line standards.

Provide Site "Technical" Reports as requested.

Undertake work activities in accordance with the Alliance technical specification,
health and safety legislation and alliance procedures.

Implement engineering 'Best Practice' and 'Lessons Learnt' activities in future
work planning and execution.

Document and submit the requirements for Change Management.

Participate in the Alliance Safety Briefing Programme.

The preparation and maintenance of all records required to meet Contract
Specifications.

Direct control and monitor technical quality on site.

Monitor technical surveys and dilapidation surveys.

Participate in the development and planning and preparation of Alliance works.

Check appropriate Daily Work Returns (Planned v Actuals & Track Construction
/ G Forms ) are submitted timeously.

Undertake the role of the Utilities Co-ordinator ensure information is collated,
checked and distributed for use out on site.

Ensure Permits to excavate are correctly and accurately complied, information is
distributed, CAT scanner operatives and Excavation Supervisors are briefed.

Act as the TWC on IUT Projects

Ensure all aspects of Temporary works are followed and information filed and
retained as per company guidelines

Undertake the production of temporary works designs and oversee production of
larger temporary design schemes

Brief the TWS on plans and activities and ensure registers are completed and
inspections take place with the appropriate qualified staff

Who we're looking for

Extensive experience in the relevant engineering disciplines, ideally with involvement
in construction and design projects across multi discipline areas.

Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level or equivalent work experience

An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.

Knowledge of safety & Environmental management and quality assurance.

CDM, risk assessment, auditing internal and external competency.

Knowledge of Track Renewal processes, operational railway and associated safety
matters.

Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills

PTS

Utility co-ordinator trained

Holds the competence of TWC and TWS

Important skills

Team player with willingness to learn, challenge and be involved.
Computer literacy
Ability to drive

The following qualities/experience are Desirable:

Membership of a relevant professional institution or working towards.
