Project Manager
Sizewell C
Location - Bristol
Join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes and help shape the future of clean energy.
Sizewell C is moving into a critical delivery phase following Financial Completion, creating exciting opportunities for experienced Project Managers to join the Engineering & Delivery function across a range of major programme areas.
This is a rare opportunity to work on a nationally important project, helping deliver a new generation nuclear power station that will provide low-carbon electricity to around 6 million homes for decades to come.
We are looking for ambitious, delivery-focused Project Managers who thrive in technically complex environments and are motivated by working at scale, influencing major decisions and driving progress across high-profile engineering and construction programmes.
The Role
As a Project Manager at Sizewell C, you will play a key role in advancing engineering design, securing critical supply chain capability and preparing major contracts for delivery.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, the Responsible Designer (RD), quality teams and key stakeholders, you will help drive the successful delivery of Systems, Structures and Components (SSCs) across the programme.
You will be responsible for ensuring engineering and procurement activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the high standards expected within a regulated nuclear environment.
Depending on your experience and interests, opportunities are available across:
Mechanical, Electrical & HVAC (MEH)
Supporting the development and delivery of the MEH Alliance model, working closely with partners and applying lessons learned from Hinkley Point C to establish robust delivery strategies for Sizewell C.
Nuclear Island (NI)
Leading delivery across critical systems, buildings and contracts forming part of the Nuclear Island programme, within one of the most technically complex environments in UK infrastructure.
Civil Works
Driving delivery strategies for major civil construction scopes, overseeing engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities across significant work packages.
Conventional Island & Balance of Plant (CI/BOP)
Managing engineering and delivery contracts across conventional generation systems and associated infrastructure, ensuring safe and efficient execution from design through to commissioning.
What You'll Be Doing:
• Driving delivery of engineering studies and design activities across your programme area
• Working with multidisciplinary teams to prepare manufacturing, construction and engineering contracts
• Supporting the procurement and management of major contracts and suppliers
• Managing interfaces across systems, contracts and programme areas to ensure integrated delivery
• Driving implementation of site-specific design changes and ensuring robust technical solutions
• Supporting replication of Hinkley Point C designs while identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiency
• Managing technical risks, obsolescence challenges and supply chain issues
• Developing and implementing delivery strategies aligned to the Programme Execution Plan
• Monitoring delivery against cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements
• Supporting lessons learned, continuous improvement and knowledge capture across the programme
• Building strong relationships across internal teams, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders
Why Sizewell C?
Sizewell C is one of the largest clean energy investments in the UK and one of Europe's most exciting major infrastructure programmes.
Backed by the UK Government and major international investors, the project combines:
• Complex engineering challenges
• Major programme scale
• Long-term investment and stability
• International collaboration
• Career-defining opportunities
• A genuine contribution to the UK's net zero future
You'll be joining a highly collaborative environment where innovation, delivery excellence and strong leadership are valued, and where your work will have visible, long-term impact.
What We're Looking For
We're interested in hearing from candidates with experience delivering engineering or project management activities within complex, highly regulated or major infrastructure environments.
You may currently work within:
• Nuclear
• Energy
• Defence
• Oil & Gas
• Rail
• Aviation
• Utilities
• Heavy industrial or manufacturing sectors
You'll ideally bring:
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering or procurement activities
• Project management or project engineering experience across the project lifecycle
• A background in mechanical, electrical, process, systems or civil engineering
• Experience managing interfaces across large, complex projects
• Understanding of contract procurement and supplier management
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience working within EPCM or large infrastructure delivery models
• Knowledge of cost, risk, schedule and change management principles
• Experience working with contractors, consultants and delivery partners
Experience within nuclear or other regulated industries would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Professional qualifications such as Chartered Engineer status or formal project management certifications are welcomed.
What Makes You Successful Here
You'll thrive in this role if you:
• Put safety first in everything you do
• Stay calm and focused under pressure
• Can make decisions in complex and changing environments
• Build trust and strong working relationships
• Enjoy solving problems and driving progress
• Bring energy, resilience and accountability
• Encourage collaboration, challenge and continuous improvement

Why Join Us?
For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.
Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation - but they also have an eye on the future.
EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.
Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.
We're not just building new nuclear power stations. We're developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.
It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there's always a need for more.
Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it's also an industry which is changing.
We're a responsible business and proud to be Britain's biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
