Our Contracting business delivers some of the most ambitious nature-based solutions projects in the country and we are growing.

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery across a diverse portfolio of civils and environmental projects. This is a hands-on leadership role at the heart of our Nature-Based Solutions Build team, responsible for the full project lifecycle from planning and mobilisation through to safe, quality delivery and commercial close-out.

This is an opportunity to lead meaningful, lasting work on projects that restore rivers, reconnect floodplains and create habitats that genuinely benefit nature while building and developing a team around you and shaping how FiveRivers grows.

THE ROLE

You will lead the planning, management and delivery of projects within our Contracting business, ensuring Safety, Quality, Time and Commercial (SQTC) controls are embedded throughout. While all four matter, a key focus of this role is driving strong commercial performance managing risk, change and opportunity with a clear understanding of how project performance connects to business-wide results.

Beyond your own project portfolio, you will play an active role in shaping the culture and capability of the Contracting team. We want someone who invests in the people around them, drives continuous improvement in how we work, and helps build the operational platform for the next stage of FiveRivers' growth.

A genuine understanding of environmental principles and nature-based solutions matters here. You will be delivering projects with real ecological outcomes and we want a PM who understands and cares about what that means.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery & Programme

  • Lead the planning and delivery of projects across all phases
  • Manage project programmes, budgets and commercial performance
  • Maintain positive cashflow and manage project financials
  • Identify, manage and communicate risks, change and opportunity early
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards
  • Support bids, tenders and business development activity

People & Growth

  • Lead, mentor and develop project teams on site and in the business
  • Build and maintain strong external client and stakeholder relationships
  • Develop repeat client relationships and identify new opportunities
  • Drive continuous improvement in team performance and ways of working
  • Help expand theteam,contribute to hiring, onboarding and development
  • Shape the culture and operational efficiency of the Contracting team

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Essential

  • Proven experience managing civils or environmental projects through the full lifecycle
  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management experience, predominantly NEC3/4
  • Experience in early risk and change identification and management
  • Confident leadership and team management able to develop people and drive performance
  • Understanding of environmental principles and nature-based solutions
  • Strong external client and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Knowledge of construction methodologies and project planning
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel and stay away where required

Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Construction, Civil Engineering or Project Management
  • NEBOSH or IOSH (or working towards)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body:CIEEM, CIWEM or equivalent desirable
