As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by bp (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK's first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Senior Construction Manager to contribute to our Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.
Role Purpose: Ownership and lead OF the construction activities on the Project. Ranging from briefings, RAMS, Setting People to Work Safely, managing all subcontract works on site, managing the site managers and ensuring the project is run safely and to programme. Present the progress onsite at monthly PRM reviews.
Report to Project Manager and liaise with other key members of the team such as
QS/Design/Planning
What you'll be doing
• Previous Construction Management experience within the relevant industry is required
• Ability to communicate effectively is required to manage customer relationships, in
addition to planning and organisation skills to deliver operational excellence and efficiency
• Effective leadership skills, including experience of leading teams and confidence in the
ability to lead, influence and communicate with others to deliver targets are required
• Financial awareness is required to deliver targets, with a desire to continuously improve safety and sustainability performance
• An appropriate and valid CSCS card is required
• A relevant professional qualification, such as APMP, and a relevant technical qualification are desirable
• Experience of Lean Construction principles and Lean practitioner training are desirable

What you'll be doing
- Lead the project team and manage the supply chain to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Drive a strong safety culture, promoting continuous improvement and ensuring all safety targets are met
- Support sustainability objectives, including waste, energy, and water management, and engage with clients and communities
- Ensure project plans and schedules are robust, well-communicated, and optimise resources
- Manage subcontractors, monitoring performance and progress to meet contractual requirements
- Work with design teams and consultants to meet project deadlines
- Understand and contribute to commercial decision-making alongside the Project Surveyor
- Keep Project/Contract Managers informed of progress, risks, and changes
- Support resourcing, team management, and customer relationships throughout delivery
- Ensure company procedures and policies are followed, maintaining high standards and compliance
- Manage defects and post-completion issues to maintain strong client relationships
- Take ownership of documentation and deliverables from conception through to handover
- Promote a strong HSE culture and ensure compliance with all safety requirements
- Support sustainability initiatives and maintain focus on Zero Harm
- Commit to continuous development and uphold company values
