We are currently recruiting for a Temporary Building Surveyor to join a centrally based Oxford University College. This position is available immediately, with working hours and assignment length to be confirmed.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Building Surveyor to oversee the maintenance, refurbishment, compliance, and improvement of the department's property portfolio. The successful candidate will manage projects, assess building condition, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct building inspections and condition assessments.
• Identify defects and recommend appropriate repair and maintenance solutions.
• Manage refurbishment, maintenance, and construction projects from inception to completion.
• Monitor project budgets, programmes, and contractor performance.
• Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety requirements, and industry standards.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
• Support sustainability initiatives and environmental improvements across the estate.

Person Specification

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in building surveying, construction project management, or property maintenance.
• Strong understanding of building construction, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience managing contractors, budgets, and multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and building regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree or professional qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB) is desirable.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
