Role: Project Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery of an Agile data migration workstream as part of a large-scale Snowflake to Databricks transformation programme. You will be responsible for managing Agile delivery, sprint execution, backlog prioritization, stakeholder communication, and ensuring the successful delivery of migration activities within agreed timelines and quality standards.

The ideal candidate will have experience managing Agile software or data engineering teams, delivering cloud data platform projects, and coordinating cross-functional teams in fast-paced enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of the Agile squad responsible for the data migration workstream.
• Manage and maintain the product backlog, sprint backlog, and work item prioritization.
• Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
• Track sprint progress and ensure the timely delivery of committed sprint objectives.
• Manage Agile delivery boards using tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps.
• Identify, manage, and remove delivery blockers and impediments.
• Work closely with Data Engineers, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, QA, and Product Owners to ensure successful delivery.
• Ensure user stories are clearly defined with appropriate acceptance criteria and are ready for development.
• Monitor team velocity, sprint capacity, burndown, and other Agile performance metrics.
• Provide regular delivery updates, sprint reporting, and status reports to the Programme Manager and key stakeholders.
• Ensure sprint deliverables align with overall programme milestones and business objectives.
• Support estimation, sprint planning, release planning, and delivery forecasting.
• Promote Agile best practices, continuous improvement, and team collaboration.
• Manage dependencies within the squad and across other project teams.
• Identify, assess, and escalate delivery risks and issues affecting project timelines or quality.
• Collaborate with QA teams to ensure successful testing, defect resolution, and release readiness.
• Maintain accurate documentation of sprint outcomes, decisions, actions, and delivery artefacts.
• Facilitate effective communication across technical teams, business stakeholders, and programme leadership.
• Ensure effective utilisation of team resources while maintaining delivery focus and quality standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering Agile technology or data transformation projects.
• Strong experience managing Agile software development or data engineering teams.
• Experience delivering cloud data platform, analytics, or migration projects.
• Solid understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Experience managing product backlogs, sprint planning, and Agile ceremonies.
• Strong knowledge of Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar Agile project management tools.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams including Architects, Engineers, Business Analysts, and QA.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Strong planning, estimation, forecasting, and delivery management experience.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, dependencies, and delivery risks.
• Experience monitoring Agile metrics such as velocity, burndown, and sprint performance.
• Strong problem-solving, organisational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering Snowflake to Databricks migration projects.
• Experience working within Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or SAFe Scrum Master.
• Experience within Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Retail, Healthcare, or other enterprise organisations.
• Familiarity with data engineering, ETL/ELT pipelines, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
