The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) is one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. LTC is a new road that will connect Kent and Essex through a tunnel beneath the River Thames and will be the greenest road ever built in the UK - creating six times more green space than road. The reliable new route will almost double road capacity over the river east of London to reduce congestion and give millions of people more choice on where they live, work and spend their valuable time. As one of the Construction Managers on the project, you will play a key role in leading a section of the operations team to successfully deliver the works. Supported by the Project Leadership Team, you will drive safe delivery, programme performance, quality and budget accountability, while fostering a positive project culture that promotes collaboration, high performance and continuous improvement.

As one of the Construction Managers on the project, you will play a key role in leading a section of the operations team to successfully deliver the works. Supported by the Project Leadership Team, you will drive safe delivery, programme performance, quality and budget accountability, while fostering a positive project culture that promotes collaboration, high performance and continuous improvement.
As the Construction Manager, you will:
- Report into to the Senior Project Manager within the Construction Director's team, you will work collaboratively with fellow Construction Managers to lead an integrated operations team and supply chain partners in delivering site activities safely and efficiently to agreed time, cost and quality objectives and standards.
- Work collaboratively with key members of the wider project team, including Commercial, Design, Planning, HSEW, Environment & Sustainability functions, as well as the integrated LTC Client team, to support coordinated decision-making and successful project delivery
- Be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering a range of site activities across multiple work zones, ensuring works are executed safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, quality and performance requirements.
- Lead and manage the site Agents and their subordinates ensuring a relentless focus on safely delivering the project to programme and budget by driving and leading production control of on-site activities.
- Drive the implementation of Production Control within the operations team under your leadership to ensure planned works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget, providing clear and accurate progress reporting to the Project Leadership Team.
- Ensure short, medium and long-term project plans and schedules are robust, achievable and aligned to project objectives, optimising the use of resources while ensuring key milestones and timescales are clearly communicated and understood across the project team.
- Lead key construction activities including the development of construction programmes and methodologies, management of RAMS production, coordination of workforce deployment, management of subcontract works on site, and contributing to constructability reviews and workshops to support safe and efficient delivery.
We are looking for:
- Previous Construction Management experience in a Highways environment is preferred
- Effective leadership skills, including experience of leading teams and confidence in the ability to lead, influence and communicate with others to deliver targets are required.
- Ability to communicate effectively is required in order to manage customer relationships, in addition to planning and organisation skills to deliver operational excellence and efficiency.
- Commercial awareness and experience in delivering to set budgets is required to deliver to project targets
- Experience in delivering projects to a high degree of safety excellence with a desire to continuously improve safety and sustainability performance.
- An appropriate and valid CSCS card is required.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as APMP, and a relevant technical qualification
