General ManagementProject Manager, Cambridge-GSK Ageing Collaboration (CG-AGE) (Fixed Term)
We are seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager to provide operational management of a new collaborative partnership between the University of Cambridge and GSK. The Cambridge-GSK Ageing Collaboration (CG-AGE) is led by Prof. Eoin McKinney and aims to improve our understanding of immune ageing and how to modulate it.
The Role
As project manager, you will provide comprehensive operational support to ensure the smooth running of all aspects of Cambridge's contribution to CG-AGE, including financial management of activities. In collaboration with researchers from Cambridge University and GSK you will assist in developing plans for the joint projects and drive productive interactions between the Cambridge-GSK teams. This will include identifying risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them. You will oversee management of the budget allocated for the collaboration, working with the University and Department of Medicine finance teams to achieve this. You will also assist with managing recruitment of roles to support the work of CG-AGE and will be a visible point of contact for all aspects related to the collaboration. This may include supervision of members of the CG-AGE research team, as well as being involved in setting strategic objectives and solving practical issues with senior scientists and administrative colleagues in Cambridge and GSK.
You will be based in Cambridge, with possible occasional travel within the UK. You will be line-managed by and work closely with Prof. Eoin McKinney, the Cambridge lead for CG-AGE, and will also report regularly to the CG-AGE Senior Research Fellow, once appointed. You will also interact with other Cambridge-GSK collaborations (particularly CG-TIC) and will work with and provide support to the CG-TIC Programme Manager, where required, for combined events such as symposiums or group meetings.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, particularly in a scientific context and be familiar with the workings and processes of the university. They will be educated to at least degree level (BSc level or equivalent), ideally in a subject related to the biosciences, and have a qualification in project management or equivalent practical experience. Excellent communication skills are vital, as are organisational abilities and experience with managing complex projects or programmes. The successful candidate will also have proven experience of budget preparation and management, report writing and data management. A positive attitude to problem-solving, an ability to work with people across teams and groups, and a willingness to make things happen are also all advantageous traits for this role.
Informal enquiries regarding this position are strongly encouraged: contact Prof. Eoin McKinney ( [email protected] ), CG-AGE Cambridge Lead.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 5 years in the first instance.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
