The Senior Project Manager will:
- This is a full-time role that is predominantly office and site based. There is, however, flexibility regarding start and finish times, and-subject to agreement-up to one day per week may be worked from home.
- Work across a wide variety of projects, providing a range of building surveying and project management services.
- Undertake typical building surveying duties, including defect inspections and investigations, preparation of building reports and condition surveys, and the development of schedules of work and specifications for tendering purposes.
- Deliver projects that typically include low to medium value refurbishment, repair, maintenance, and urban realm improvement schemes, with values ranging from £5,000 to £1 million and more.
- Manage both pre- and post-contract construction responsibilities, including contract administration, delivering these services effectively in alignment with RIBA work stages or equivalent frameworks.
- Support the operational activities of the Estates and Facilities Department, working collaboratively with faculties, schools, directorates, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Assemble, appoint, and manage external project design teams and specialist consultants as required.
- Ensure compliance with the Project Management Office Handbook and adherence to established gateway review procedures. Each gateway report and presentation must clearly capture, as a minimum, the current status of programme, cost, risk, quality, sustainability and environmental targets, compliance with technical standards, scope, and other relevant matters.
- Produce high-quality written and verbal reports and project documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensure effective communication and engagement with all internal and external stakeholders who are impacted by, or have an interest in, the project programme.
- Ensure that all development works comply with legal and statutory requirements, with particular regard to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the Building Safety Act.
- Keep up to date with new standards and best practice relating to Strategic Estates Development and make recommendations on how these can be applied to support the University's strategic objectives.
- Carry out any other duties commensurate with the role, as reasonably requested.
