## Job Purpose
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Project Engineering (Start-Up Assistance) for a 36-month contract to lead and manage the Start-Up Assistance (SUA) function for a multi-billion-dollar LNG onshore expansion mega-project. This role acts as the critical bridge across engineering, construction, completions, commissioning, and operations teams to drive start-up readiness, provide technical assurance, and ensure a safe, flawless transition of facilities into stable operations.
## Key Accountabilities

Start-Up Assistance (SUA) Leadership: Lead the SUA program to achieve safe, reliable, and efficient plant start-up aligned with company standards and milestones.

Primary Technical Interface: Serve as the central focal point between the Operations Expansion & Start-Up (OES) Team, the Project Management Team (PMT), and EPC Contractors for all start-up deliverables, including Operation Readiness Plans (ORP).

Resource & Sourcing Optimization: Drive overall readiness by ensuring Reimbursable Start-Up Requests (RSR) for contractor-provided labor, equipment, materials, and services are sourced and mobilized in a timely manner.

Daily Operational Alignment: Attend daily OES work planning and prioritization meetings; coordinate PMT and contractor discipline support to enable prompt troubleshooting and issue resolution.

Handover & Testing Oversight: Coordinate vendor and licensor support, manage the defect and warranty claim process, and oversee Performance Guarantee Testing and post-handover punch list completions.

Action & Risk Register Management: Manage the completion of the Operations Readiness Plan deliverables with support from the Senior Operations Advisor, coordinating across respective function managers to build mitigation options and contingency plans.

HSEQ & Compliance: Conduct all activities in strict accordance with corporate Safety, Health, Environment, Quality, and Firewall compliance policies.

Qatarization Program: Actively contribute to the development of Qatari employees under the company's national talent development initiative.
## Role Requirements & Person Specification
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences from a recognized university.
Knowledge and Experience
-
Ten (10) years of experience spanning various project phases including engineering, procurement, construction, and large-scale commissioning within the Oil & Gas Industry.

Minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role, acting role, or in an oversight capacity managing service/vendor personnel.

Direct, proven experience providing start-up support to plant Operations.

Comprehensive knowledge of project execution, systems completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning frameworks.

Strong background interfacing directly with major Oil & Gas asset owners, EPC contractors, or specialized service companies.
