This role will contribute to the achievement of the GPOC's mission and vision by planning and developing programs for the provision of Production & Operation (P&O) Division (Production, Project & Engineering, Construction, Drilling and Downstream) support services and the development of a capable, effective and efficient P&O team with team work that will contribute towards meeting South Sudan's national aspiration of self-sufficiency in energy needs.
Manages the provision of such services to enhance the integrity and optimization of hydrocarbon recovery, technologies and economics and contributes to GPOC's overall strategic operational management.
Acts as a custodian of all technical processes of Production Operations and is responsible for ensuring that these enhance and protect the integrity of the concession area.
Essential Functions
- PRODUCTION OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Drive and steer Production team for effective plan, strategy and execution of production operations in all fields to ensure crude oil is produced in the quantities and at the quality level to meet shareholder objectives and off take requirements.
The production operation management may include the provision of all the necessary contracts, standards, procedures and guidelines, operation and maintenance excellence, optimum assets integrity and reliability etc.
- PROJECT & ENGINEERING (P&E)
Drive and steer Facilities team for effective plan, strategy and projects execution for GPOC.
The P&E work may include all the necessary contracting work, engineering design, procurement, construction, commissioning and/or project management for greenfield development, facilities reinstatement, replacement & rejuvenation or any improvement projects.
- CONSTRUCTION & EARTH MOVING
Drive and steer Construction team for effective plan, strategy and execution of construction and earth moving related activities for GPOC.
The construction work may include all the necessary contracting work and contractors‘ management to build, repair and maintain the fields interconnecting roads, well access roads, well pads, airstrip, construction of firelines, waste and drilling pits, site clearance for pipeline right of way and transmission lines, repair and maintain evaporation and biorem ponds, area compaction and excavation support etc.
- DRILLING AND WORKOVER
Drive and steer Drilling team for effective plan, strategy and implementation of all the drilling and workover related activities for GPOC
The drilling and workover work may include all the necessary contracting work, procurement, engineering, programs and activities sequences, and operations executions management for greenfield and infield development, field exploration workover of existing wells.
- DOWNSTREAM SUPPORT
Drive and steer Downstream team for effective plan, strategy and execution of all downstream activities for GPOC
The downstream activities may include monitoring of crude oil transportation and pipeline operations from NCPF Heglig to Marine Terminal Port Sudan; crude oil processing, sampling and analysis, at NCPF Heglig, crude oil export metering measurement, calibration and validation, preparing forecast delivery report for lifting planning, and all other coordination work related to crude oil receipt, storage, lifting and shipping activities at Marine terminal.
- SHORT AND LONG TERM STRATEGIES & OBJECTIVES
Formulates short, medium and long term strategies and objectives including work programs for the division and develops business and operating plans which will form part of the overall GPOC business plan. Reviews plans on monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Develops and determines action plans for implementation on major deviation from the original plan.
- HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT AND SECURITY
Drive the implementations of GPOC's Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Policy and the associated divisional HSE plan in line with the approved HSEMS in coordination with President Office/HSE Department to ensure a safe and healthy workplace, protect company property and assets, and safeguard public health and the environment. Drive the development of potential risks identification and programs under divisional responsibility to mitigate the risks and ensures that all subordinates are fully aware of all hazards.
Ensures that the personnel, facilities, materials, data and documents are safe. Collaborate with President Office/Security Department to coordinate requirements of security programs aligned with security policy and procedures.
- FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Drive and steer short, medium and long-term financial performance for the division by establishing targets and monitoring performance for the overall activities. Establish strategy and initiatives for work program and budget to minimize financial risk and exposure to GPOC.
- TECHNOLOGY IMPLEMENTATION & APPLICATION
Drive the implementation and application of new and fit for purpose technology to promote operational efficiency and cost optimization within the divisions through initiative in identifying, selecting and adopting/customizing leading edge/niche technology that will continuously add value to GPOC‘s operations and enhance its competitive advantage.
Qualifications/Experience Required
- Degree in B.Sc. (Bachelor of Science) or B. Eng. (Bachelor of Engineering) or Equivalent
- More than 20 years' varied experience in oil and gas industry. Experience should include at least 5 years at the general management level.
- Experience in Subsurface, Surface operations, Project Development, HSE Management with at least 10 years‘ experience in a supervisory position.
- Good understanding and broad base technical knowledge in other disciplines i.e. Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Drilling, Facilities, HSE, Petroleum Economics and Project / Business Management for Field Development and Production Management.
