Your Role and Responsibilities

We are now looking for a new Material Compliance Specialist to join our team in ABB Distribution Solutions in Vaasa, Finland. In this role you will play a key role to follow product material compliances by preventing compliance issues and ensuring right and sustainable materials in products. You will be responsible for actively monitoring environmental directives and regulations to make sure the certifications of the environmental declarations are executed in accordance with standards and legislation. You will also collaborate closely with many stakeholders of the global ABB organization and external third parties.

You will mainly be responsible for:

• Keeping track of the latest regulatory developments, emerging compliance practices, and methodologies to incorporate them into daily operation
• Managing materials compliance database - collecting, reviewing, and keeping compliance data updated with required data integrity and validity by implementing a robust engineering approval process
• Support the local organization in the execution of LCAs and relevant environmental product declarations, e.g. EPD.
• Managing customer compliance requests, collaborating with relevant stakeholders to satisfy customers' needs in a timely manner
• Preparing, submitting and signing-off compliance reports, declarations, and other documents where applicable.
• Standardizing relevant documentation processes and templates (reports, declarations, etc.)

Qualifications for the Role

• B.Sc or M.Sc degree in environmental science or industrial engineering
• A minimum of 2 years of experience working in material compliances, in the field of environment or sustainability area
• A thorough understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance standards - RoHS, REACH (SCIP reporting), PFAS, Conflict Minerals, Prop 65, TSCA, POPs, VOCs, WEEE, etc.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational capabilities
• Ability to write well-structured and well-reasoned reports, proposals and documents
• Attention to details while keeping the overall picture in mind
• Good communications skills
• Fluent Finnish and English, both written and spoken
