This Position reports to:
Head of Legal Business and Regional General Counsel EMEA, Robotics Division

Your role and responsibilities

As a member of ABB's Legal & Integrity team, this Legal Counsel role is embedded within the Legal Operations. The Legal Operations team acts on a global level as an engaged, strategic business partner with a focus on quality, customer service, and the company's best interests. The Legal Counsel will have a deep understanding of legal business needs and will play a key role in the efficient delivery of legal services, enhancing operational efficiency, and managing legal costs.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Legal Operations & Business Partnership
  Provide legal and integrity advice to management and business stakeholders, aligning legal operations with business objectives and enabling strategic decision-making through efficient, value-driven legal support.
• Contracting, Governance & Transaction Support
  Coordinate and oversee contract negotiations, drafting, and reviews of commercial agreements, support M&A/divestiture activities, ensure sound corporate governance, and streamline contract management processes to reduce cost and complexity.
• Integrity & Compliance Management
  Monitor legal affairs including litigation and regulatory matters, manage the implementation of the Code of Conduct, and collaborate with integrity and regulatory teams to ensure compliance through effective and efficient operational practices.
• Performance, Cost & IP Operations Management
  Implement legal cost control initiatives, manage outside counsel spend and annual performance planning, and oversee IP operations (trademarks and patents) in collaboration with IP colleagues to ensure effective management and cost efficiency.

Qualifications for the role

• University degree in Law (or equivalent).
• 4-5 years of experience in legal operations in-house legal roles with a focus on operational efficiency. Previous experience in Robotics sector is preferred but not required.
• Effective ability to offer trustworthy legal guidance and strategic business support in an intricate, global context as well as solid experience with commercial contracts, contract lifecycle management, and stakeholder coordination.
• Knowledge of corporate governance and experience supporting M&A and divestiture transactions.
• High interest in implementing and managing legal technology solutions and good understanding of integrity, compliance, and corporate governance frameworks.
• Experience in managing legal budgets and controlling external counsel costs.
• Proficient communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and cultures.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; additional regional languages are an asset.
