Key Roles & Responsibilities
Contracting & Tendering
- Fully responsible for vessel fixture execution, contract negotiations, and post-fixture operations under the supervision of the Operations Manager/VP - MGP.
- Assist the Operations Manager/VP - MGP with contract negotiations for pool agreements, time charters, contracts of affreightment, and tender processes.
- Support in developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing clients, brokers, owners, operators, and service providers.
Commercial Operations
- Monitor fleet vessel operations under the guidance of the Operations Superintendent.
- Handle off-hire and deviation calculations, laytime calculations, and voyage estimations.
- Compute voyage results and manage commercial claims.
- Monitor vessel movements through high-risk areas and manage related insurance binding.
Invoicing & Payments
- Verify Bills of Lading, prepare hire, freight, demurrage, and insurance invoices, and submit for payment release.
- Process commission invoices for service commission release.
- Coordinate with accounts to ensure financial information accuracy.
- Monitor receipts and ensure payments comply with contractual terms.
Voyage Operations
- Stay informed about fleet logistics, ship inspections, cleaning, and dry-docking schedules.
- Maintain a voyage performance monitoring system to track vessel performance in line with contractual warranties.
- Coordinate information flow between Commercial, Marine, Technical, and Crew Manning departments.
Research & Report Generation
- Assist the Operations Manager/VP - MGP in preparing management reports.
- Support in gathering business data to report on existing and potential business opportunities.
- Monitor market studies for freight rates, tonnage demand, and cargo volume/trading pattern changes.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
Education & Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree, preferably in Shipping, Logistics, Maritime, etc.
- Sailing experience, at least as Chief Officer on Tankers.
- Member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (MICS).
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 3 years in Tanker Operations, Chartering, or Commercial Fleet Management.
- Strong knowledge of tanker spot and period chartering, charter parties, and commercial claims handling.
- Established network within the shipping industry.
Geographic Experience:
- Middle East experience preferred but not mandatory.
Computer Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of shipping industry applications is a plus.
Language Skills:
- Excellent English language skills.
Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge:
- Experience in the shipping industry, with a focus on the tanker sector.
