This Position reports to:
Quality Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

You will be responsible for coordinating the utilization of equipment and ensuring a high level of service and cost-effective movement of goods. You will also be responsible for validating carrier invoices and ensuring that transport costs are charged according to agreed contract and purchasing guidelines.

In this role, you'll help run what runs the world by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact, as you will be accountable for:

Logistics
  • Communicating with transport service providers to place transport orders, obtain confirmations, provide customs instructions, and monitor key shipment milestones.
  • Ensuring continuous monitoring of carriers and delivering customer service aligned with the needs of supported businesses and local delivery requirements.
  • Calculating total transportation lead times and transport costs, including analyzing and justifying any cost overruns.
  • Applying different planning techniques and leveraging transport management system functionalities.
  • Collecting and maintaining updated knowledge of local transport processes, customs practices, and relevant regulatory restrictions.
  • Verifying and auditing carrier billing and conducting freight invoice audits.


Trade
  • Creating and maintaining written procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with export controls, sanctions (including manual screening), and customs requirements, incorporating input from CTCO/Global Trade where applicable.
  • Maintaining an up‑to‑date overview of all trade‑related policies, instructions, end‑to‑end processes, and tools relevant to the local unit, ensuring management awareness.
  • Providing periodic updates to Local Business Managers and staff on the implementation status of ABB's Global Trade Program and on significant changes in export control or customs regulations.
  • Implementing and maintaining an export control and customs compliance awareness program, in line with the Global Trade Program's training framework, and delivering trade‑related training to employees-especially where export control responsibilities are delegated.
  • Offering policy guidance, oversight, and practical support to the business on export control and customs compliance for daily inbound and outbound operations, including documentation and archiving requirements.
  • Applying for required customs and/or export control licenses or authorizations with relevant governmental agencies, under CTCO guidance.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of all trade compliance records for at least five years, or longer if required by national legislation.


Qualifications for the Role
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Economics or specialization in Logistics or Transportation area
  • You have at least 5 years experience in transport management, including customs operations
  • Good knowledge of trade, customs and logistics rules and regulations is required
  • Ability to demonstrate your capability to manage and prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks is essential
  • Good planning, problem solving and decision-making skills are relevant
  • Possessing advanced IT skills including with MS Office and SAP
  • Great team working skills and customer-oriented approach to work is essential
  • Active mindset for process development
  • Experience in working with advanced TMS (Transport Management System) platforms is seen as an advantage
  • You are at ease in communicating in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
