Job Description Summary

The Customs Logistics & Materials Leader owns end-to-end site materials execution and trade compliance-balancing customer demand, material planning, inventory, material handling, and transportation to meet delivery commitments. Leads Customer Planners, Supply Planners, and Material Handling teams to improve On-Time Delivery, Inventory Turns, space utilization, and logistics performance.

As the site lead for customs and international trade, ensures compliant import/export execution through strong broker management and robust controls for documentation, authorizations, and records retention. As a member of the site leadership team, drives SQDC results through servant leadership, KPI rigor, and continuous improvement.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Own Site S&OE (Sales & Operations Execution) activities in alignment with the Central GE Aerospace Materials team.
  • Lead execution of Customer Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Integrity, and Material Handling processes; manage the exempt salaried team executing these processes.
  • Optimize customer and supplier delivery, inventory (raw material, work in process, finished goods), and productivity through problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Influence site strategy for inventory, storage, and logistics of procured and manufactured materials.
  • Provide direction, counsel, and create and execute customs strategy affecting customs transactions for the site.
  • Prepare, validate, and submit commercial and customs export/import documents per legislation, internal procedures, GE regulations, and signed agreements/contracts; obtain required authorized signatures/initials and confirm documentation is compliant.
  • Manage collaboration with approved customs brokers; establish transport requirements and monitor transport activity to support delivery performance and compliance needs.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Customs Authority on comprehensive guarantee, inwards processing, VAT deferment, and passive processing authorizations; ensure on-time renewal of required authorizations.
  • Monitor and maintain letter of guarantee levels versus import/export values and secure amendments as needed.
  • Define and execute a systematic archiving process for customs documentation (export declarations, intra-EU transit documents, CMRs, AWBs, carrier dispatch notes and invoices, farm-out invoices).
  • Prepare dispatch notes/annexes for deliveries and materials resulting from the production process (chips, waste); maintain electronic delivery status tracking files/databases.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with companies that outsource UECB processes (farm-out), ensuring compliant and reliable execution.
  • Lead KPI measurement standardization and systemic change management to support site KPIs and the problem-solving process; lead KPI reviews including root cause, corrective actions, and leading indicator identification.
  • Establish control plans, daily standard work, and visual management around materials/logistics KPIs.
  • Lead and develop the team in accordance with the GE Aerospace People Leadership model and FLIGHT DECK operating system, including staffing and performance development.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and profound experience in planning, materials, sourcing, or related supply chain management in a manufacturing environment
  • Customs license, certification, or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge of international trade regulations, compliance, and legal requirements, including preparation/submission of commercial and customs documents per governing requirements.
  • Lean & problem-solving mindset.
  • Romanian and English language skills

  • Previous managerial experience
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, MBA, and/or CPIM certification preferred
  • Advanced planning experience and ability to navigate complex processes and systems
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written); able to explain information, develop skills, and align teams
  • Strong interpersonal/leadership and influencing skills; demonstrated ability to lead cross-functionally and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
