Key Responsibilities
• Support the full lifecycle of industrial UPS systems (AC & DC) across major manufacturers such as CEG, AEG, Gutor
and Chloride.
• Maintain a complete register of UPS systems, manufacturing data, configurations and maintenance history.
• Monitor, review and manage critical spares in coordination with warehouse and procurement, including
capacitors, power boards and related components, while ensuring proper preservation.
• Execute condition monitoring and preventive maintenance activities, including site visits, inspections, readings
and performance checks.
• Perform redundancy checks with Instrumentation & Control teams and support component replacements and
overhauls with OEMs, ensuring proper fit-up and quality control.
• Carry out battery monitoring and testing, including discharge tests, float current reviews and charger health
assessments.
• Conduct harmonic measurements to confirm filter performance and assess capacitor and choke condition.
• Manage end-of-life and obsolescence for UPS components in alignment with OEM recommendations.
• Support investigation of electrical incidents, trips, blackouts and near misses linked to UPS systems.
• Provide emergency technical support, including outside normal working hours, and drive continuous
improvement of UPS maintenance practices.
• Support a fleet of MV/LV VSDs and soft starters across multiple OEMs such as ABB, Siemens, Allen-Bradley and
VACON, including water-cooled drives and active/passive filters.
• Execute CM/PM activities for drives, including fan performance checks, HVAC temperature reviews, output choke
health verification and filter performance assessments.
• Plan and execute component upgrades with OEMs, ensuring full documentation, workmanship quality and post
maintenance verification.
• Support troubleshooting, incident reviews and failure reporting for drive-related disturbances and reliability
issues.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience with industrial UPS and VSD/soft starter systems, preferably in oil & gas, refining or heavy
industry.
• Strong knowledge of OEM software tools for UPS and VSD systems, as well as SAP PM / EAM modules.
• Familiarity with relevant electrical standards and specialised diagnostic tools, including harmonic measurement
instruments.
