Job Description — Lifting Supervisor (OPITO Level 3)

What structure will you work in as a Lifting Supervisor?

We are recruiting for one of our clients in Angola, for a Lifting Supervisor OPITO Level 3.
The role will be onshore from January to March 2026, then offshore on a 4x4 rotation until June 2027.

Lifting Supervisor (OPITO 3): Main missions and responsibilities

  • Prepare, validate, and oversee all lifting procedures associated with construction, maintenance, and modification works.

  • Participate in the technical preparation and review of job cards related to lifting operations.

  • Conduct risk assessments for simple and complex lifts, ensuring full compliance with HSE and project standards.

  • Supervise lifting operations offshore and ensure safe execution in coordination with riggers, crane operators, and construction teams.

  • Verify lifting gear, equipment certifications, and compliance with international lifting regulations.

  • Provide technical support and training to crews on lifting best practices and safe lifting policies.

  • Liaise with construction, preparation, HSE, and planning teams to ensure operational readiness.

  • Report any deviation, incident, or non-conformity and propose corrective actions.

Profile and required skills for the Lifting Supervisor position

Education

  • Technical diploma or degree in mechanical engineering, lifting engineering, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–10 years in lifting supervision within oil & gas.

  • Mandatory OPITO Level 3 certification (or equivalent recognized lifting competence scheme).

  • Offshore experience essential.

  • Experience supervising complex heavy lifts is a strong asset.

Skills

  • Fluent English mandatory.

  • Strong knowledge of lifting operations, lifting plans, and international safety regulations (LOLER, API, ISO).

  • Ability to interpret lifting drawings, crane charts, and load calculations.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Strong HSE culture, ability to stop unsafe work.

  • Competent in coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
