Task and responsibilities
The Senior Electronic / Instrument Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the high availability and reliability of critical offshore instrumentation, control systems, and electronic assets. Operating under minimal supervision, the role involves executing complex maintenance strategies—Preventive, Predictive, and Corrective—while providing technical mentorship to junior staff and ensuring strict adherence to offshore safety, environmental standards, and AT EX (Explosive Atmospheres) regulations.
Job Description:
- Lead the execution of all specialized electronic and instrument works, ensuring assets operate within specified design parameters.
- Perform precision overhauls, calibration, and component replacements for PLCs, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).
- Manage the maintenance and inspection of certified equipment (Ex d, Ex i, Ex e) to ensure compliance with hazardous area classifications and prevent ignition risks.
- Execute advanced calibration and repair of transmitters (pressure, level, flow, temperature), control valves, and actuators.
- Execute advanced loop tuning and signal verification using industry-standard methods (e.g., HART communicators or signal simulators) to mitigate process deviations.
- Deep diagnostic skills in identifying electronic board failures, communication bus faults, and instrument malfunctions in an offshore environment.
- Proficiency in reporting technical findings and maintaining accurate digital or manual maintenance logs, including calibration records.
- Providing technical mentorship to local and junior staff.
Educational Level and Training:
- Bachelor or high school degree in combined with a technical qualification or possessed related training certificates in Electronics or Instrumentation MAXIMO Training
- Excellent competence in written and spoken English ATEX Certificate for hazardous areas
Required Experience: Minimum of 10 years' direct maintenance experience as a Sr. Electronic / Instrument Technician in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of field instruments & control valves. Familiar with PFD, P&lD, Matrix, Cause-Effect, Logic & Loop drawings, datasheet review, instrument index, etc . for daily job requirement.
- Experience in PLC and automatic control system, Turbines, Compressors, DCS, ESD
- Good experience and proficiency in CMMS.MAXIMO, familiar with and use of basic MS Office
