Main function of the job: -

 Planning engineer responsibilities are to develop suitable economically viable implementation methods and schedule for a project in oil and gas industry. Monitor the project progress, budget planning and the schedule throughout the development stages of the project. Work closely with project manager and other engineers to ensure a project runs on schedule and the outlined deadlines are met also ensures that material supplies are sufficient. Compile projects progress reports and deliver presentations to the management when required.

Duties and Responsibilities: -

  • Understand project scope of work and coordinate with project manager, engineers and other departments to provide most effective planning techniques and level schedule.
  • Study project scope and review contractor plan, schedule and ensures schedule elements are in line with company project scope.
  • Plans and schedule projects execution by using specialized design software packages also ensuring plans meet the company requirements.
  • Analyse each phase of the projects to arrange the require budget and cost control.
  • Coordinate with project manager and engineering teams to complete the projects activities within estimated budget and time schedule.
  • Responsible for day-to-day activities of project management teams and projects progress.
    • Deciding on the most appropriate engineering techniques and sequences of activities for each project stage.
    • Set targets for achievements, plan and execute the projects management goals.
    • Develop work strategies, determine material and labour costs, time scale and monitor budget and crew performance.
  • Schedule and attend project meetings with project team on regular basis, provide actual project progress status and resolve bottlenecks in execution.
    • Analyse and update risk control measurements that have been identified as part of risk assessment process.
    • Identify potential schedule risks, forecast the impact and provide mitigating action.
    • Liaising with contractors, project team, suppliers and managing resources as per plan and budget.
    • Follow up the project at all stages and providing solutions to problems.
    • Tracking projects costs and payments and ensuring implementation stay within predicted estimates.
    • Manage the project manpower and ensures the project has adequate staff to complete each stage on schedule.
    • Ensure health and safety regulations are obeyed and communications channels are open in the project organization.
    • Collect and maintain record for projects data, compile project reports for management and deliver presentations when required

     Qualifications & Experience: -

  • Education: - B.Sc. Degree in Engineering.
  • Project management software primavera P6 and MS project.
  • Minimum 10 years of planning experience and cost control in major oil and gas industry EPC projects.
  • Must be fully familiar with plant safety requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, projects management and strong analytical skills.
    • Excellent in English for effective verbal communication and good writing skills.
    • Computer skills MS office.
