Head Rotating (Machinery)

Job Purpose | - Responsible for overseeing rotating engineering activities in NFW Onshore Project, ensuring all technical requirements such as project specifications, data sheets, etc. are in full compliance with project requirements, standardised processes, and are delivered to the highest technical quality standards.
- Perform a cold eye review of the NFW FEED rotating engineering deliverables and propose changes, if considered mandatory.
- During the ITT phase, provide technical information/clarifications requested by the bidders.
- During the EPCFEED phase, provide clear guidance to the EPCFEED contractor, sub-contractors and LLI's vendors and facilitate resolution of rotating engineering technical issues to complete rotating engineering activities to meet project objectives and milestones.
- Support the Long Lead Items RFP issuance, review technical proposals and capture lessons learned from NFE and NFS projects.
- During start-up and early operations phases, until the performance tests completion, provide ad hoc field engineering assistance.

Reporting and Relationships | - Reports to NFW Engineering Manager
Internal - Regular interface and collaboration with Process, Mechanical, I&CS, Electrical, Civil/Structural, Loss Prevention Heads and engineers. Interactions with Interface, Operations Advisors and Project Engineers within the NFW Onshore Project organisation.
- Frequent contact with Construction, Quality, Operations, SHEQ, and QG Engineering departments as required.
- Close collaboration with NFE and NFS Heads of Rotating.
External - Periodic/As-required interaction and communication with Kahramaa representatives
- Regular contact with EPCFEED Contractor, LLI's Vendors, sub-contractors and specialist consultants.
- Occasional engagement with shareholder representatives.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s) | - This position is responsible to ensure all technical activities associated with the rotating engineering discipline by the EPCFEED contractor, and all third parties such as vendors, consultants, sub-contractors, etc, are executed to NFW Project's specifications and QG requirements.
- This will involve technical evaluations, including risk-based evaluation of complex engineering issues, resolution of rotating engineering related matters with significant project execution and/or commercial impact to ensure optimum outcomes that are meet technical and execution expectations.
- Major challenges for this role include (1) effectively managing EPCFEED contract and rotating engineering team to produce timely deliverables up to Provisional Acceptance Certificate (PAC)ITT issuance, (2) maintaining constructive working relationship with EPCFEED contractor to ensure delivery of engineering work scope in accordance with project requirements, (3) maintaining proper relationship with key stakeholders (e.g. Operations), and (4) to ensure high quality of rotating engineering deliverables .
- Expertize about Frame 6 & Frame 9 gas turbines
- Delivering a very large scope of work to achieve project expectations,
- Required to contribute to other multi-disciplinary tasks whilst providing expertise in rotating engineering specialised/discipline area.

Key Job Accountabilities

- Accountable for ensuring execution of work is technically aligned and in compliance with Qatargas Operations, Policies, Standards of Business Conduct and Qatargas Project Management System (QGPMS).
- Perform a cold eyes review of key rotating engineering FEED deliverables
- During the ITT phase, provide technical information/clarifications requested by the bidders.
- Leads rotating engineering design and planning activities and ensures EPCFEED contractor develops detailed designFEED deliverables in accordance with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, project specifications and any approved variations.
- Resolve rotating engineering discipline issues to ensure engineering design addresses NFW Project's expectations and objectives. Communicate and elevate issues before they escalate to Project Management when necessary.
- Review technical aspects of rotating equipment purchase orders with EPCFEED Contractor and vendors in accordance with the roles and responsibilities stated in applicable contract(s) to ensure safe and seamless integration of new rotating equipment into the existing operating facilities.
- Assess discipline plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of project activities and provide data (narrative, charts, graphs), change management recommendations and recovery plans to address any schedule delays.
- Develop, update and amend design / project philosophies, specifications and procedures ensuring that all references to Rotating Engineering are current and relevant.
- Monitor and provide guidance to EPCFEED Contractor to ensure key discipline deliverables, progress/milestones are met. Recommend additional technical support where necessary to address gaps.
- Coordinate and analyse discipline issues for resolution. Provide Rotating Engineering input to other engineering disciplines, construction, procurement etc as necessary. Support commissioning, start-up and system completing activities and make appropriate recommendations to management on Rotating equipment matters.
- Plan and schedule Rotating Engineering deliverables to enable efficient execution in meeting project milestones/schedule
- Leads Rotating Engineering discipline interface coordination with third parties, as required, during the NFW ITT and EPCFEED phases.
- Contribute to Safety analysis studies and provide the required input to support project management in key decisions making. Participate in sharing lessons learned, together with capturing current lessons learned to benefit future projects.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications | - Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Knowledge and/or Experience | - 15 years' experience of Rotating Engineering, preferably in a major LNG Project. Broad knowledge of engineering execution including design standards, specifications, codes, safety criteria, onshore LNG facilities and utility systems design, construction and operations would be advantageous.
- Requires demonstrated broad Rotating equipment and systems experience (including Frame 6 and Frame 9 gas turbines).
