Piping & Mechanical Supervisor (Construction Site)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Piping & Mechanical Supervisor to join our on-site construction team. Reporting directly to the Construction Superintendent, this role is responsible for the coordination and supervision of all works performed by the Piping and Mechanical Contractor within their assigned scope. You will ensure that all activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality, meeting the technical and operational requirements of the project.


Key Responsibilities

Specific Duties

  • Supervise, coordinate, and support contractors on-site, monitoring and expediting their activities.

  • Coordinate construction activities with other superintendents and contractors to ensure efficient, safe, and productive work execution.

  • Interpret and review engineering drawings, specifications, and discipline standards.

  • Audit and verify that all work is completed in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and procedures, and that only qualified, trained personnel are engaged.

  • Promote and maintain a strong HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) culture on-site to achieve all project safety goals.

  • Evaluate contractor competencies, staffing levels, and work processes throughout the construction phase.

  • Review contractor method statements to confirm work is planned and executed safely and efficiently.

  • Implement and enforce project policies, procedures, and work rules.

  • Support the operation and compliance of the Permit to Work (PTW) system.

General Duties

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.

  • Attend and actively contribute to construction and contractor meetings as required.

  • Perform daily reviews and maintain a detailed daily log of construction activities.

  • Oversee the satisfactory operation and maintenance of contractor temporary facilities on-site.


Required Competencies and Skills

  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with German piping and mechanical industry standards, specifications, and codes.

  • Proven ability to monitor and inspect piping and mechanical construction activities.

  • Effective coordination and communication across multiple contractors and work areas.

  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Working proficiency in spoken and written German, and good understanding of spoken English.


Qualifications and Experience

  • Time-served apprenticeship certificate in a piping or mechanical discipline, or national certification in a related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant on-site piping and mechanical construction experience.

  • At least 4 years in a supervisory role within major construction projects.
