Title: Machinist III – CNC Lathe Machinist

Pay Rate: $32/hr
Location: Pasadena, TX
Shift: 2nd Shift — Monday–Friday, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM (overtime & weekends as needed)

 
Position Summary
The Machinist III (CNC Lathe Machinist) is responsible for setting up and operating special‑purpose equipment, conventional machines (lathe and/or mill), and numerical‑control (NC) lathes and machining centers to fabricate high‑precision metallic and non‑metallic components. This role requires strong machining fundamentals, blueprint reading ability, and adherence to quality and safety standards in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Operate special‑purpose equipment, conventional lathes/mills, and NC horizontal small lathes.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, manuals, specs, and sample parts to determine machining requirements, tolerances, and sequencing.
• Observe machine operations, identify malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance conditions, and adjust machine controls accordingly.
• Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines including lathes, mills, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

 
Skills & Competencies

• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry to machining tasks.
• Ability to calculate and set controls for machining factors: speed, feed, coolant flow, depth & angle of cut, etc.
• Ability to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control programs.

 
Work Environment

• Fast-paced and noisy industrial environment with constant activity.
• Regular lifting and movement of materials up to 50 lbs.

 
Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of manual and/or CNC machining experience preferred.
