Position Title: Underground Utility Inspector
Location: South Carolina
Employment Type: Full-Time
Duration- 3-6 months 

Position Summary
The Underground Utility Inspector oversees installation of stormwater, sewer, potable water, reclaimed water, and fire-line systems. This role ensures compliance with municipal utility standards, trench safety requirements, pressure testing protocols, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect installation of underground utilities including storm drains, sanitary sewer, water mains, services, and fire lines.
  • Verify pipe bedding, compaction, and backfill meet specifications.
  • Oversee manhole, valve, hydrant, and structure installation.
  • Monitor trench safety compliance, shoring, sloping, and OSHA requirements.
  • Witness pressure tests, mandrel testing, vacuum tests, deflection tests, and disinfection procedures.
  • Confirm adherence to municipal and utility agency standards.
  • Document daily construction activities, materials, and compliance issues.
  • Communicate deficiencies to contractors and work with project engineers on resolution.
  • Ensure environmental regulations are followed, including erosion control and groundwater management.
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience inspecting underground utility construction.
  • Working knowledge of municipal utility standards and installation practices.
  • Familiarity with trench safety and confined space requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Utility Inspector certification, or Water/Sewer Operator licensing.
  • Experience with large-scale municipal or land development projects.
  • Training in erosion and sediment control (e.g., CESCL).
Soft Skills
  • Strong problem-solving and field communication abilities.
  • Detail-oriented documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varied site conditions.
