Hill International is seeking an experienced Material & Corrosion Prevention Engineer to support major project activities related to material selection, corrosion control, and protective systems. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise throughout design, construction, and operational phases to ensure full compliance with international standards and project specifications.

In this role, you will review and validate material selection documents, corrosion control strategies, and design specifications, ensuring that all materials (metals, coatings, composites) meet the required performance criteria for pressure, temperature, and corrosion environments. You will also participate in the preparation and review of Material Requisitions, MTOs, technical bid evaluations, and mitigation strategies such as cathodic protection, chemical inhibition, and protective coatings.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design & Engineering Phase 
• Review Specified appropriate materials (metals, coatings, composites) for process fluids, 
pressure, temperature, and corrosion conditions. 
• Review and consent to develop Material Selection Diagrams (MSDs) and Corrosion Control 
Documents (CCDs). 
• Participate in the preparation and review of Material Requisitions, Material Take - Offs (MTOs), 
and technical bid evaluations. 
• Define corrosion mitigation strategies including cathodic protection, chemical inhibition, and 
coatings/linings. 
• Ensure material and corrosion design complies with international codes (ASME, ISO, API) and 
company specifications. 


Fabrication Construction & Installation Phase 
• Review and approve vendor documents, material certificates (MTCs), and welding procedures 
(WPS/PQR). 
• Monitor coating application, insulation, and corrosion monitoring installations. 
• Conduct site inspections and audits to verify material quality and corrosion control measures. 
• Support QA/QC team during FATs and SATs. 

Operation & Maintenance Phase 
• Analyze corrosion monitoring data (e.g., coupons, probes, smart pigs). 
• Recommend corrective actions for corrosion - related anomalies. 
• Support RBI (Risk - Based Inspection) and integrity assessment programs. 
• Investigate material failures and perform root cause analysis.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

Strong knowledge of materials science, metallurgy, corrosion mechanisms. 
• Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics, and technical standards. 
• Experience in offshore/onshore oil & gas environments. 
• Familiarity with corrosion modeling software (e.g., OLI, CO2Sys, ECE). 
• Excellent problem - solving and communication skills.

• Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in Engineering from an accredited university 
• Work experience of then (10) years in the sought discipline after earning the BSc degree

• Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write specifications and reports.
