Position Overview
As an EMT at Kiewit's KOS location, you will play a key role in the health and safety of all Kiewit employees and visitors to the site. You will assist in monitoring the activities of heavy construction projects, ensuring the facility's compliance with pertinent governmental regulations, company policies and procedures; and provide emergency medical support to any injured or critically ill patient.
District Overview
Kiewit Offshore Services, a district (or business unit) of Kiewit Corporation that builds structurally complex jackets and topsides for offshore oil drilling rigs. Located in Ingleside, TX, 20 minutes outside of Corpus Christi, the 550-acre fabrication yard is the workplace of 300 staff employees and 1400 craft employees who work in the yard year-round. Location
This position is based out of Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) Ingleside, TX location.
Responsibilities
• Work out of the onsite Medical Clinic
• Administer audiometric, respiratory fit and pulmonary function tests
• Perform first aid to injured or ill employees
• Provide emergency medical support to any injured or critically ill patient.
• Coordinate and conduct drug and alcohol testing
• Assist in monitoring the activities of heavy industrial construction projects, ensuring the facilitys compliance with pertinent governmental regulations, company policies and procedures.
• Assist in determining the cause of unsafe conditions and injury claims through procedure, equipment and facilities inspection and worker observation.
• Review project work plans for accuracy in conformance with the standards and assist in environmental health and safety program audits, coaching, and training.
• Assist with the presentations during new hire safety training and safety meetings.
• Monitor all construction work for compliance with environmental health and safety requirements.
Qualifications
Must have Texas issued EMT License
• Experience as an EMT, Paramedic or RN needed
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA) or equivalent degree/work experience preferred
• Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, rotating nights and days every 6-9 weeks
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements highly sought after
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Strong organization and time management skills
• Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies

• Work productively and meet deadlines timely
• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
• Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
• Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
• May work at various different locations and conditions may vary.
