Wood Digital Consulting (DC) are looking to recruit a Principal Electrical Engineer on a contract basis to support North Sea decarbonisation, Energy, Oil & Gas, specialty chemical and Industrial Sectors.
The role is required to work under the Head of E,C&I Engineering to support the execution of electrical scopes across all Project phases (Concept to Start-up) based within our Hull office, where we recognise the value of hybrid working.

This role will contribute to the delivery of engineering excellence for our clients and stakeholders. The Principal Electrical Engineer will serve as the technical expert on projects and hold advanced level specialization in one or more areas of expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities:
- Directs preparation of appropriate engineering documentation for assigned projects, through conceptual, feasibility, FEED and EPC phases.
- Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
- Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work
- Evaluates problems, organizes investigations, and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc.
- Check Engineering calculations as well as check all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; Assist with the development of junior technical professionals
- Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Establishes detailed designs and performance specifications to fulfil the requirements of assigned general specifications.
- Responsible for meeting discipline cost and schedule requirements in production of deliverables, coordinates own work schedule, and prepares progress reports.
- Recommends changes in plans and estimated cost when necessary.
- Participate in site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and other workshops as required.
- Provide technical input and support to proposals as required

Expected:
- MSc degree in Electrical Engineering - Mandatory
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certificate
- Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates (Amtech Trimble)
- Ability to comprehend and interpret Electrical technical information.
- A strong and capable knowledge of ATEX/UKEX standards (ExF, Ex12 desirable)
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
- Working level of competence in own discipline in the execution of assigned tasks.
- Working level of knowledge of industry and technology development within discipline area
- Ability to create functional and cost-effective designs and processes that meet complex specification requirements with little support.
- Knowledge and experience of the following - Electrical generation, transformation and distribution systems.
- Familiar in specification and interface management of Electrical requirements for Mechanical packages
- Familiar with interfacing with Client Engineers personnel to facilitate project execution.
- Experience with managing and liaison with Vendors to facilitate project execution
- Familiar with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
Desirable:
- Previous site survey experience
- Offshore design experience
- Shows evidence of ability to guide and mentor others
- Experienced user of relevant specialist engineering software
- Good interpersonal and team working skills, builds positive relationships with supervisors, subordinates, peers, and clients
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative.
- Possesses integrity, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and is dependable.
- Adaptable and flexible to the changing needs of projects and assignments.
