Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participates as a member of HNEI's Grid Systems Technologies Advanced Research Team (GridSTART) focused on assisting the Principal Investigator with the development, test and evaluation of advanced grid architectures, enabling energy policies and regulations, and new technologies and methods for the effective integration of renewable energy resources, enhanced power system resilience and optimization.
  • The graduate research assistant will be expected to be trained in EHSO laboratory safety; plan and conduct research related to smart grid, micro grid, renewable energy grid integration, and power systems operation; conduct data analysis and reduction; and organize and report findings.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Must be a degree-seeking graduate student (Masters or PhD) admitted to or registered in a graduate program at UH Manoa in electrical engineering or related field of study.
  2. Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above and maintain full-time enrollment.
  3. B.S. in electrical engineering or related field.
  4. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  5. Ability to work effectively in research organizations and establish and maintain professional relationships with coworkers.
