Mission
• Design painting, coating, field joints coating, insulation systems and materials for onshore plants, offshore and floaters topside facilities and pipelines related to Oil and Gas industry, Refinery processes, Urea and Ammonia plants, to ensure protection of piping, pipelines, equipment, steels structures, etc.
• Provide specialized assistance and technical support for discipline of competence during engineering, fabrication and construction phases
• Ensure that all approved specifications, procedures, etc. are complied with, and that all lists of materials quantites are updated to meet project schedule requirements for materials approval, purchasing and installation, either in the scenario when materials are purchased by Saipem and applied by others than when materials are purchased and applied by Saipem Sub-Contractors
Tasks
The Engineer executes the activities within own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE requirements.
Tasks include:
A - Know How, Research and Development Technology and Commercial Support
• Provide up to date information and support to Saipem technical, commercial and field departments for developing sound engineering practices, specifications and procedures in the field of competence
• Ensure that all activities performed in the field of competence are carried out following latest technical and scientific materials developments, and in line with best industrial practices
• Promote Saipem involvement in Research and Development projects of relevance in the field of coating and insulation materials and systems
B-Feasibility Phase
• Provide technical support to other disciplines in the field of competence
C-Bidding phase/Commercial proposal development
• Review of Client/End User tender documents and requirements relevant to painting, coating and insulation materials and systems
• Examinate project documentation to identify critical issues in the field of competence and to identify cost saving strategies
• Prepare technical queries and qualifications for materials and systems
D - Project Execution and Operational Phase
• Prepare, issue and update engineering documents (specifications, procedures, lists of surfaces to be painted, coated and/or insulated)
• Review/Update with project specific needs project Quality Control Procedures for painting, coating and insulation works to be carried out at site by Sub-Contractors
• Review of Mechanical Data Sheets of Packages, Machinery and Equipment for verification of painting, coating, and/or insulation requirements
• Review of painting, coating, insulation procedures submitted by Manufacturers/Vendors ( during TBE phase and after P.O. assignement)
• Prepare the specifications and material requisitions for painting, coating, insulation materials enquiries to Bidders (when required) • Evaluation of Technical Bids received by Bidders pursuant to materials to be purchased (when required)
E-Construction and Commissioning
• Review and approval of the documentation prepared by site Sub-Contractors (e.g. Materials approval requests, method statements, repair procedures, etc.) relevant to painting, coating, insulation site works.
F-Support to Vendor Management
• Support to Vendor Management for selection of Vendors and for performance of technical audits
