Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Coating Inspector Level 1 to join our team in South Calgary. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge in coating inspection processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. This role is initially a contract position, with the potential for transition to full-time based on performance and project needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections on surface preparation and coating applications to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and manufacturer specifications.
- Document inspection results accurately, including surface conditions, environmental parameters, and coating thickness measurements.
- Identify and report non-conformances, recommending corrective actions where necessary.
- Verify proper equipment calibration, including instruments such as DFT gauges, surface profile testers, and environmental monitoring tools.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure coating quality and adherence to timelines.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards, including NACE, SSPC, and ISO regulations.
- Certification as a Coating Inspector Level 1 (NACE or equivalent).
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in coating inspections or related roles in construction, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
- Familiarity with surface preparation methods, coating systems, and industry standards (e.g., SSPC, NACE).
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as DFT gauges, adhesion testers, and holiday detectors.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to work in various site conditions, including climbing, standing for extended periods, and wearing PPE.

- CIP LEVEL 1
- Knowledge of applicable environmental and safety regulations in Alberta.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with project teams and contractors.
