JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is currently looking for a Deputy Project Lead with a strong Engineering background in the oil and gas industry to join our team in Basra, Iraq on a 5 weeks on /3 weeks off rotational work.
The position will be on a 5 weeks on /3 weeks off Rotation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and Responsibilities;

• As an integral member of the project leadership team, support the Project Manager in providing insights that contribute to the strategic direction for the successful execution of the projects.
• Champions both Wood and client Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality cultures. Leads by example in 'raising the shield', demonstrating the 'courage to intervene'. Ensures that procedures are followed and that a high standard of safety and quality is achieved in all associated work.
• Supports delivery of project and engineering excellence in support of the Project and Engineering Manager on assigned project scopes.
• Responsible for ensuring effective coordination of project activities with various teams.
• Takes responsibility for schedule, manhours, key milestones and coordination of medium sized engineering projects in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the Wood and the customer.
• Support Project Manager in defining key deliverables and their timing to achieve project completion.
• Steward project performance measures (safety, quality, cost, schedule and operability, etc.).
• Work with SH&E, Planning & Controls, and Quality disciplines to ensure project expectations are understood and necessary plans are in place.
• Ensures that the project is delivered in the correct sequence, highlighting and managing risk if works are completed out of sequence.
• Expected to be fully conversant with the scope of work assigned, managing project action registers and risk. Is familiar with and across technical and project issues.
• Support Project Manager in effective management of interfaces and coordination across various functions and other projects.
• Provide leadership, mentoring and oversight of Project Leads during the execution phase of the project.
• Interface with stakeholders for participation in various project meetings/workshops i.e. HAZOP, Model Reviews, Factory Acceptance Testing, etc.
• Liaise with Operations in coordinating shutdown planning, site access during construction and SIMOPS activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Skills / Qualifications

• Degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
• Minimum of 20+ years of experience in the oil and gas industries with experience in infrastructure EPC projects within the oil and gas industry
• Experience in working in multicultural and dynamic environment.
• Experience in managing detailed engineering and procurement in a brownfield environment.
• Experience of project cost control and planning systems.
• Worked on projects in Iraq and/or GCC is preferable.
• Builds collaborative teams and leading by example in the demonstration of Wood's core values.
• Take ownership of scopes of work, coordinating the engineering disciplines and supporting functions to deliver successful outcomes.
