Process Operator
We are currently supporting our client with their search for a Process Operator to join them on a permanent basis in Hampshire, UK.
This a site-based shift position with 7 days on and 7 days off.

Our client manage one of the largest Gas Storage facilities in the UK and provides a vital gas storage service that contributes to balancing gas supply and demand within the national gas transmission system (NTS) across the United Kingdom.

Job Purpose:
Report and be accountable on a daily basis to the Shift Superintendent
Carry out routine and non-routine activities to ensure the safe and efficient running of the Gas Plant, Oil Gathering Station and associated Wellsites under the direction of the Shift Superintendent in accordance with the company HSEMS.
Oversee contractors and HGEL personnel when working on remote sites.
Carry out and take control of routine operations (e.g. pigging of flowlines, well testing, road tanker loading/unloading, discharge water testing, chemicals inventory management) and non-routine operations (e.g. equipment shutdown/isolation, manual draining/depressurising) as they arise
Identification and reporting of abnormal operating occurrences or parameters and the correction of such by applying an analytical assessment of the problem and agreeing considered action through liaison with Shift Superintendent/Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor, operate, and maintain plant facilities, ensuring safe and efficient processes.
Perform and oversee routine tasks (e.g., pigging, well testing, tanker operations) and non-routine operations (e.g., equipment shutdowns, manual draining).
Identify and address abnormal conditions; liaise with supervisors for resolutions.
Maintain detailed logs and records for operational continuity and reporting.
Stand in for Shift Supervisor when required, managing operations, emergency responses, permits, and personnel.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, promoting a safe and clean workplace.
Supervise contractors and implement the Permit to Work system.
Support training, reporting, and improvement initiatives to uphold operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience:
GCSE-level education; NVQ Level 2 in Process Operations preferred.
NEBOSH Oil & Gas Safety Certificate is advantageous.
Experience in Oil & Gas or related process industries; familiarity with control and safety systems.
Computer literacy and a valid UK driving license.

Competencies:
Strong problem-solving, technical, and communication skills.
Ability to manage routine and emergency operations independently.
Comprehensive knowledge of plant systems, procedures, and safety protocols.
Team player with the ability to train others and coordinate across departments.

Additional Requirements:
Must live within a one-hour commute of site (near Alton, Hampshire).
Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
Flexible to adapt responsibilities as business needs evolve.
