Sr. Pipeline Engineer

Job Overview: The Senior Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of pipeline systems for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects. This role involves overseeing the full lifecycle of pipeline engineering, from design and feasibility studies through to construction and commissioning, ensuring the safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of the pipeline systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, engineering, and construction of pipeline systems for oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Conduct pipeline routing studies, material selection, and stress analysis to ensure the technical feasibility of pipeline designs.
  • Develop and review pipeline system design specifications, technical reports, and other engineering documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with international standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ISO, DNV).
  • Lead the preparation and review of project deliverables, including engineering drawings, pipeline stress analysis reports, and material requisitions.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (e.g., process, mechanical, electrical) to ensure the integration of pipeline systems with overall project designs.
  • Oversee pipeline construction activities, including installation, welding, and testing, ensuring compliance with design specifications and international standards.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Lead the identification and resolution of technical issues and risks associated with pipeline design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) regulations during the pipeline engineering and construction phases.
  • Perform risk assessments, hazard analysis, and reliability studies for pipeline systems.
  • Support the preparation of technical proposals, including cost estimates, risk assessments, and feasibility studies.
  • Review and approve vendor documents and ensure the quality of materials and equipment used for pipeline projects.
  • Lead and mentor junior pipeline engineers and technical staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Pipeline Engineering.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., PE license) may be preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in pipeline engineering, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of pipeline design codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASCE).
  • Experience in pipeline stress analysis, routing, and material selection.
  • Proficiency in pipeline design software (e.g., AutoPIPE, Caesar II, AFT Fathom).
  • In-depth knowledge of pipeline construction techniques, welding, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with pipeline inspection and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
