JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is actively seeking Expressions of Interest for Senior Project Controller role to support future growth in our expanding business.

The projects team focusing on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control within the man-hour, cost and the project schedule targets.

This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Senior Project Controller will be responsible for:

Provides cost, planning, scheduling and risk assessment support to Wood assignments / project teams and
clients, typically on smaller projects without dedicated project control discipline teams
Runs all required project controls systems and tools to enable the successful management and reporting of
the project costs, schedule and risk on projects and specific assignments.
One of the project / assignment focal points for all matters relating to project costs, schedules, and risk.

Typical responsibilities

• Liaise with the client and any contractor Project Controllers as appropriate, to ensure alignment
with the project reporting requirements and ensure timely and accurate cost and progress reporting
• Reporting of planned and actual progress figures
• Facilitate the collection of weekly progress figures from the project team and any 3rd party contractors
• Monitoring and reporting against the project critical path providing early warning to the Project Manager of any potential slippages
• Reporting of project costs and schedule data
• Produce weekly and monthly project cost and planning status reports
• Assist in the development and maintenance of Project Work Breakdown Structure for specific scopes of work
• Study and understand all relevant documents pertaining to the preparation of plans and schedule
• Monitor the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals
• Monitor and control cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of the project / assignment
• Identify slippages, significant float erosion and raise to more senior team members with suggestions for recover actions
• Tracking of and input into the change management system

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

• Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelors) Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience)

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive industry experience, with at least 4 years in project control positions.
• Experience of project planning software (MS Project / Primavera)
• Excellent Excel skills
• Knowledge and application of earned value and other progress monitoring techniques
• Knowledge of risk management processes and techniques
• Ability to work well in a team and independently
• Strong communication skills - both written and oral
• Excellent customer service focus
• Exceptional organisational and planning skills
