We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Contracts Lead to join our Oil & Gas client's team, on a 12-month contract in Spring, TX. In this role, you will:
The Contracts Lead II/III will support Upstream Procurement with a focus on Geoscience contracting. This role is responsible for maximizing the total value of agreement portfolios throughout the purchase-to-pay process (from strategy to implementation) while ensuring operational integrity. The position supports global Geoscience contracting activities, including Geophysical (Seismic Acquisition, Marine Surveys, Core Samples, etc.) and Geotechnical (Seismic Processing/Reprocessing and Data Licensing) scopes.
Job Role Responsibilities
• Develop, own, and maintain a portfolio of contracts within Upstream - Geoscience Procurement
• Implement innovative commercial strategies and provide commercial guidance to end users
• Identify business value and rationalization, and competitive opportunities within the portfolio
• Create and implement innovative contracting strategies with guidance from Category Manager
• Execute competitive bids, concurrent negotiations, auctions, renewals, etc. for given portfolio
• Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders via in-person meetings, facility tours, lunch & learns, trade shows, market events, field trips, etc.
• Develop market expertise - follow market trends, know supplier landscape, latest technologies, etc.
• Know supplier capabilities and performance trends
• Utilize Supplier Relationship Management to drive strong partnerships
• Identify efficiencies by continually reviewing contract leakage, overheads, and third-party markups
• Test appropriate compensation methods (unit rate vs. T&M vs. lump sum, etc.)
• Track cost avoidance, cost mitigation, and business enhancement results
• Understand and monitor how agreements are being utilized at transactional/operational level
Job Requirements
• BS in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, other relevant Business or Engineering degree from accredited institution
• Minimum of 3 years of Supply Chain experience, preferably in Procurement/Purchasing (contracting, sourcing, buying, etc.)
Preferred Knowledge
• Procurement/Purchasing expertise
• Oil and gas industry experience
• Category-specific knowledge: Drilling & Exploration, Rigs, Upstream Operations, Geoscience, Capital Projects, and/or Buying
• Requisition/purchase-to-pay process
• Total system cost models
• Procurement Methods: RFIs, RFQs, negotiations, competitive bids, auctions, etc.
• Enterprise resource planning systems (GEP, SAP, etc.)
• Project planning / execution
• International business experience
