About theRole:
The ProjectSales Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, timely, andprofessional project cost estimates and proposals. This role requires stronganalytical, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as a thoroughunderstanding of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
KeyResponsibilities:
o Reviewing project engineereddrawings, geotechnical soil reports, bid requirements, and specifications,noting specific requirements from pre-bid walk-throughs.
o Confirming, negotiating, andsecuring accurate costs from suppliers and subcontractors, consideringestablished D&H United pricing, special vendor/customer pricing,manufacturer trade-in credits, and vendor incentives. This requirescoordination with D&H United Procurement and Sales personnel.
o Identifying and estimating allconstruction and service labor and material costs, defining labor hour requirementsby project phase (daily, weekly, and monthly totals).
o Analyzing cost-affecting data(e.g., surcharges, company productivity goals) and incorporating it intoestimates.
o Ensuring well-written SOWs withclearly defined exclusions in estimates and final quotes.

About theRole:
The ProjectSales Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, timely, andprofessional project cost estimates and proposals. This role requires stronganalytical, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as a thoroughunderstanding of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Project Scoping and Collaboration:Collaborate with Sales Representatives, Account Managers, and clients to defineand clarify project scopes of work (SOWs). This includes conductingpre-construction reviews with sales and construction personnel and post-projectcost assessments with the construction and sales teams to improve proposalaccuracy and analyze win/loss data for pricing adjustments. Conduct meetings(on-site or remotely) with sales representatives, subcontractors, and clientsto clarify SOWs and generate quotes/proposals.
- Cost Estimation and QuotationDevelopment: Develop detailed, itemized costestimates for equipment, installation, start-up (including training, ifrequired), labor, and materials. This includes:
o Reviewing project engineereddrawings, geotechnical soil reports, bid requirements, and specifications,noting specific requirements from pre-bid walk-throughs.
o Confirming, negotiating, andsecuring accurate costs from suppliers and subcontractors, consideringestablished D&H United pricing, special vendor/customer pricing,manufacturer trade-in credits, and vendor incentives. This requirescoordination with D&H United Procurement and Sales personnel.
o Identifying and estimating allconstruction and service labor and material costs, defining labor hour requirementsby project phase (daily, weekly, and monthly totals).
o Analyzing cost-affecting data(e.g., surcharges, company productivity goals) and incorporating it intoestimates.
o Ensuring well-written SOWs withclearly defined exclusions in estimates and final quotes.
- Subcontractor Management:Research, source, negotiate with, and manage a network of reliable andcost-effective subcontractors. Coordinate with subcontractors to clarify theirscope of work for project quotations.
- Proposal Preparation andSubmission: Generate and prepare detailedquotation estimates for internal review and adjustment before client submittalwithin RFQ timeframes. Compile all required submittal documentation (e.g.,equipment cut sheets, company information, organizational charts, insurancequalifications, resumes) in the required RFQ format.
- Permitting and RegulatoryCompliance: Understand the permitting processand include associated costs (permits, fees, engineered drawings, approvalsfrom authorities having jurisdiction [AHJs]) as specified in the SOW. Staycurrent with local and state regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Risk Assessment and Cost Control:Conduct periodic risk assessments throughout project stages to maintainestimate accuracy and ensure expenses align with forecasts. Assess project risklevels and clarify any uncertainties to ensure proper cost inclusion/exclusionin final bids.
- Pricing Strategy and Analysis:Secure and maintain competitive pricing for projects and equipment. Collaboratewith Sales Representatives, Procurement, and Vendors to ensure optimal cost andsell prices based on competitive data. Gather input from sales, construction,and operations to develop accurate estimates and understand schedules andbacklog. Recommend alternative solutions to reduce costs, improve projectquality, or enhance schedules.
- Bid Approval Process:Submit a "Pre-Final Bid" form to the Sales Representative/AccountManager for line-time and gross margin adjustments. Submit the "Final Bidform" to Management and Department Managers for final approval and grossprofit margin confirmation. The Sales Representative/Account Manager will thensubmit the quotation to the client.
- Documentation and Record Keeping:Maintain organized files and documentation to support estimate figures,including current and accurate pricing information from suppliers (directcontact, brochures, price lists)
What You'llBring:
- Bachelor's degree in constructionmanagement, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent combination of educationand experience)
- Minimum 2 years of experience inPetroleum construction sales, estimating or project/construction management (Preferred)
- Strong analytical andproblem-solving skills
- Proficiency in estimating softwareand Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills
- HAZWOPER 40 certification(preferred)
- PMP, Six Sigma, or LeanManufacturing certifications (preferred)
- Ability to pass pre-employmenttesting including drug test and background check
