Overview
Responsible to plan, coordinate, supervise logging operations both open and cased hole logs for QatarEnergy operated offshore oilfields. Produce cost effective and comprehensive data acquisition plan for on-going drilling, workover operation as well as reservoir surveillance activities. Provide quick petrophysical analysis for appropriate completion strategy during drilling operation and generate post operation detail petrophysical interpretation and report to reservoir management team. Update and support Studies team regularly and as required. Ensure timely high data quality delivery from service providers for corporate archive. Being an active and highly supportive member of interdisciplinary reservoir management team.

Experience
Principal Accountabilities
  • Plan, supervise the acquisition of IS field logging operations and analyse/interpret Petrophysical/Formation Evaluation data from new appraisal, development, and infill wells. Geo-steer horizontal and highly deviated wells to meet target reservoirs. Provide petrophysical input into integrated reservoir/field development studies for subsurface model building and updating.
  • Develop Petrophysical model to characterize reservoir fluids for 3D geostatic/reservoir simulation modelling and field development planning, ensuring that Petrophysical uncertainty ranges are captured and understood.
  • Develop, contribute, and integrate Petrophysical/Formation Evaluation inputs into the short term (drill/replacement well projects, workover projects and drilling operations), medium term (reservoir voidage management) and long term (field development and asset value optimisation) activities.
  • Characterize reservoir fluid type, saturation, and distribution for identifying and recommending new/replacement drill and workover subsurface targets for producers/injectors/observers to optimize field development.
  • Integrate both open and cased hole logs as well as core routine and SCAL data to better characterize the reservoir and fluid properties.
  • QA/QC Petrophysical data and maintain Petrophysical databases including real time data links.
Context / Special Features / Challenges
    • Prefer minimum of 15 years of experience in the Oil and Gas industry, with at least 10 years of industry experience specializing in petrophysical operations surveillance and interpretation.
    • Must have a thorough understanding of open hole (both wireline and LWD), cased hole (pulsed neutron and integrity logs) and production logging tools in vertical & deviated wells.
    • Experience in complex carbonate reservoirs especially in mature and highly fractured reservoir.
    • Require good skill and experience in borehole image processing and interpretation.
    • Must have strong teamwork skills and good experience working in a multicultural environment.
    • Deep knowledge of processing and quality control workflows for wireline and LWD (logging while drilling) tools across multiple vendors (Sonic, NMR, image, formation testing) and ability to apply this knowledge to both new wells and legacy data. Fracture analysis using image log interpretation (resistivity, acoustic, density image logs)
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, less experienced staff, field staff, and higher management.
    • Good knowledge of wellbore completion technology and reservoir engineering understanding.
    • Experience in performing field studies is highly recommended.
    • Knowledge in statistical and pattern recognition techniques consider as added advantage.
    • Have good exposure to different petrophysical evaluation methods, such as basic and advance logs analysis, Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (MICP) and saturation height functions.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex technical issues and capability to prioritize tasks.
    • Ability to conduct sensitivity analysis on modelling parameters, uncertainties, and highlighting their impact on resource assessments.
    • Good understanding of rock properties, fluids behaviour, and geological modelling concepts.
    • Proficiency in log interpretation, core analysis, and integration of multiple datasets
    • Coach & mentor junior petroleum engineers and interns to ensure their development.

      Qualifications
      • Minimum of a BSc in Petroleum Engineering/Geosciences/Applied Physics.
      • Excellent knowledge in wide range of horizontal well logging technology and geo-steering techniques.
      • Experience in deterministic and probabilistic complex lithology petrophysical interpretation approach.
      • Good knowledge and experience in routine and special core analysis programs and multidimensional data integration into reservoir characterization models.
      • Knowledge of geostatistics and experience assisting geoscientists in building geological and property models.
      • Wireline, LWD, Coring, and Core Analysis contracts administration is a plus.
      • Required software Knowledge/ Experience:
        • IP / Techlog / Geolog
        • Emeraude Kappa
        • Petrel/RMS is added advantage
